Should the curriculum specially designed for satisfying each student's needs and interests?
This is such a controversial topic for the schools and students. In my opinion, it's ideal that individual needs and interests could be met, however it's a difficult and out of reality.


It's true that each person is different from others thus the education should be focus on the individual concerning the special needs and interests. After all, the students might be viewed as similar in the classroom, while the true interests and potential of them varies.

For example, the opinion that students who major in physics are all seemed the same at their beginning thus the same courses should be imposed on everyone is somehow reasonless, for some students are interested in theory while others might be inclined to experiments. The students that be attracted in theory might find them more in need of mathematics while the left would think too much courses regarding the methods to theorize is meaning less for them. Thus the college should take the differences existing among students in to account in case that some courses would be a waste of time for some undergraduates while the others would find them indispensable.


However, it's hard for the colleges and schools to meet everyone's demand and interests for that available resource is limited. Differences are always easily found no matter how similar are two students, thus it would take a lot focus if taking too much details into account while the sources of the system of education is limited. For instance, to assign totally different curriculum in accordance with each students of the same professional, pondering over the quality of education as well as the interests of students, would be a waste of time for the ministers who certify students' degree.

Also the necessity of such intensive focus is doubtful for the fact that it's not only the obligation of educators but also the one of students to attain resource to meet individual needs and interests. It's a lifelong topic for individuals to determine what they are interested in, in need of, and good at rather than mere in childhood. The ability to adjust to the circumstance could also been cultivated when the education does not meet individual needs and interests thoroughly. The most famous predecessors in the fields of science like Newton, Einstein, Addison, were all based on their own to attain requisite training and information other than instruction or guidance given by others. Thus, it's not necessary for the educators too pay too much attention on individuals since the students would ultimately grow up and have to depend on their own someday.

What's more, students are usually too young to be mature enough to find their interests and potential thus a basic general curriculum is requisite for universities to ensure the quality of instruction. It's difficult for individuals, after all, to make choice and point out the accurate feeling about certain fields unless trials have been carried out, which process calls for time and experience. Thus it's essential for the educational enterprise to provide enough information and chances for the students to make it clear what is their career in the future other than ask them what are their needs and interests at first. A system that both allows choice and stays compulsory to some extent is needed other than letting the students free to choose consequently, and the balance should be ensured in order to make the best use of sources.

In conclusion, education should meet the individual needs and interests at the best, while the limitation of the available sources should be realized.
