8.18 同意或不同意:老師的報酬應該根據學生的表現來決定。      



In modern times, many companies pay the salary of their employees depending on the performance in their work. No one can deny the stimulating


effect of this kind of reward to the personnel. There are many enterprises around us, which reform the reward mechanism of their company to the performance-

related one and get good results. However, as the career of teacher is concerned, i would like to say that it is not suitable to pay their incoming based on the

performance of the students. There are several reasons i would like to say.

In general, it is difficult to determine the criteria of students' performance. As we know, students have different kind of asserts, such as sport, study, art,


literature and so on. We almost could not set up a accessing system which can contain all the qualities of students at the same time. So when we put this kind of

reward into practice, it would lead to some unfairness easily.

There are several factual reasons for arguing against this kind of reward. During the college, the performance, if we just consider the grades, of students


is hardly connected with the competence of teachers. Most of students study the knowledge by themselves and through reviewing the course before the exam, all

of them can get a high score. Sometimes, the teacher would make the paper so easy that all students can get the high grade. For example, in one of my college

course called operation research, the teacher pointed out the questions on the paper before the exam, and all of us got the high performance. But no one can

agree that the teacher should deserve high salary.

The reward based on performance would cause some teacher to take care of better students, but ignore the students who fall behind. To get higher


grades or win during some matches, the teacher would devote their time to the top students and try to make them "elites". Even though this practice would help

the top students get more honors, many of them just learn how to solve the problems in the paper. Meanwhile, the students who fall behind are neglected

ruthlessly. This would lead to the polarity in the class, which is not so good for the students to develop in the future.

Of course, not every teacher pay their energy to teach students. Part of teachers in the university would expense more vigor to do their research rather


than teaching. If the school reward teachers based on the students' performance, it is unfair to these kind of teachers.

Though there are some advantages paying based on performance, it brings more disadvantages which influence the education qualities in the school.


We should try to find another method to reward the teacher, not only stimulating the students and teachers, but also give the teachers satisfactory salaries.
