这个题目真的很bt(其实我不太爱用这个词，是ETS给逼的）啊，想了很久都不知道怎么写。好不容易写出来觉得还是很不深刻。大家死劲拍

Intellect, including reasoning and other cognitive skills, is central to individual progress and social development. As for the individual, the higher intellect, the faster receiving new knowledge. And reasoning and other cognitive skills of intellect help individual to understand and master the novel things and phenomenon deeply. As for the society, social development depends on exploring more unknown fields, other than fields being existed. Discovering the unknown areas rests on the ability of reasoning and cognitive skills, factors included in intellect and an impetus for social development. As a result, intellect is a crucial factor promoting individual success and social development.

Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect. It can be illuminate from three aspects: family, school and corporation. First take family as an example. Scientific research shows that the infants' age from zero to three is the best period of time for developing intellect. However, most family members, especially parents, apparently nescience about it, do not train and exercise with their infants for intellectual development. It causes that ninety percent of children's intellect are not exploited announced by an authoritative survey. What a pity that most intellect of people is not developed! If parents still not pay more attentions on infants' intellectual exploiting, evolution course of human will be affected to slower.

Then have a look at school education. Existing education system, in certain extent, emphasizes too much on grades to measure how much knowledge in textbooks being mastered by students. Moreover, the process of imparting knowledge is unilateral, that is on class students acquire passively what imparted by teachers without doubt and discussion. A consequence of such system cause a strange phenomenon that is when students meet any problem, they do not think actively, they merely wait for teachers to give them standard answers and then memorize it. When these students go to community after graduate, they do not have creationary thought and sceptical attitudes, they just are taught as dictionaries and cyclopedias.

Also, corporations ignore and neglect employee's ability on reasoning and other cognitive skills. In most corporations, it seems that leaders and managers take much count of intellect, whereas actually what they need is skilled workers. For example, they merely require employee to master how to operate the machines, but the principles of why operate like this and so on is not required to acquire. Also most employees receive new information without thinking and understanding by the force of corporation's pressure and too fast update information in the society. All these will obstruct enterprise's development.

It is high time to adopting strategies and placing more emphasis on the intellect, that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills. First, mass media should play a role of announcer to announce the importance of intellect and methods of cultivating intellect as to children. Second, educational system should change the policy of examining the students' situation of studying, and the manner of schoolteaching. Third, enterprises and communities should continue to train employees’ skills on reasoning and cognition and design test about intellect when enrolling new employees. The world will become wonderful with the more emphasis on intellect by society!
