TOPIC: ISSUE175 - "It is always an individual who is the impetus for innovation; the details may be worked out by a team, but true innovation results from the enterprise and unique perception of an individual."

The speaker claims that comparing to the teamwork, a majority of innovations are always motivated by an individual or the enterprise, no matter which field they works for. When it comes to the sphere of economics, I strongly argue with the speaker's proposal and further point out that most economic successes mostly result from the chief executives of the corporation. However, on no account should we neglect the significant efforts of teamwork particularly with respect to scientific and political innovations.

In terms of the business innovations, I agree that the individuals and some special enterprises play a key role on giving birth to some significant marketing and management strategies. These individuals, some of them ultimately changed people's way of negotiation, as well as others modified the traditional standards on judging a well-operated company. In more likelihood, their innovations and brilliant works flourished their corporations after bringing about vast profits. A careful examination would reveal that nowadays world of business is filled with the above legends. Microsoft, in particular, which was established by two individuals, Paul Allen and Bill Gates,  benefits from the two young men's innovations in 1986, when they set up their goals to provide useful graphic user interface(GUI) for the ever-increasing computer operators. Although they constantly concede that the Windows System not only belongs to them, but stems from hundreds programmers’ hard working. However, when we think of the process of proposing the original concept-"GUI", there is no denying that the two individuals are the impetus for Microsoft's innovation.

Nevertheless, it is not appropriate to narrow down the important motivations from teamwork, especially when it comes to the scientific innovations.  Nowadays scientific research is facing up to a ever-complexing world. The changes of atoms and stars are always hard to be calculated and predicted. In order to establish a proper model or theory to describe the complicate world, we have to be gathered as teams for designing experiments, dealing with data, analyzing results and even summarizing evidence. Doubtlessly, a sole man has few possibilities to accomplish so big deals from planning a scheme to implementing it as a series of experiments. The research of human being's gene is one of the most famous innovations motivated by teamwork. More than one hundred nations, thousands of institutions, millions of experts involves in the project, thereby bringing about several exciting scientific innovations for the world.

Meanwhile, we must be careful not to understate the role of teamwork in political innovations. Common sense informs us that the raising of an Action is always associated with the political innovations. Accordingly, every year, the US Congress motivates several innovations which cover education, military, social life and business. Moreover, if these kinds of innovations are controlled by an individual, the whole country would be placed in the jeopardy of autarchy and despotism. Therefore, to ensure a state’s democracy, when it comes to the political innovation, teamwork has to be adopted for the purpose of preventing innovations from being abused imprudently.

To sum up, I agree that,  when it comes to the world of business, individuals always exert large amounts of influences on the innovations. However, with respect to the scientific and political innovations, teamwork might be more effective and efficient. Moreover, I have to state that in order to pursue business, scientific or political innovations, the synergistic relationship between teamwork and individual effort ought to be established properly.
