"While some leaders in government, sports, industry, and other areas attribute their success to a well-developed sense of competition, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them a sense of cooperation."
尽管一些政府，体育、工业和其他的领域的领导把他们的成功归功于良好的竞争意识，一个社会还是应该给年轻人灌输合作的思想，这更有助于他们成为好的领导者。

提纲：
1、        政府领导人需要合作的意识来协调政府各部门的工作，以达到更高的效率和更好的解决。
2、        国际问题的解决需要各国之间的合作。
3、        竞争可以促进领导提升团队的水平。

The speaker favors a sense of cooperation is a better way to prepare young people for leadership instead of one of competition, even though some leaders attribute their success to their keenly developed competitive spirit. Admittedly, a spirit of cooperation is important, one of competition is indispensable. A leader who has both the abilities of cooperation and competition would have a chance to become a excellent leader.

As many areas, a leader of government need to own a sense of cooperation to deal with different departments in the government, in order to gain a more affective and more useful disposal. He or she must establish a active plan to lead different government department or every members in a department to make the power of term play the most important role in managing a problem. The mayor of New York Juliani once said that if we want to deal with a problem better and faster, we should make every members in the term try their best to do it, or we will failed or waste too much time in it. And what he did in treating with the "9/11" shows a good example to prove that a cooperation sense of a leader is very important in disposal fatal events. After the event, he assembled many departments of New York government to deal with it, including the media, the medical system, the police, and so on. Thanks to the right leading of Juliani and the cooperation of different departments, the damnify of the bale was decreased to the lowest level. The wounded people gained the treatment in time, and the citizens gained the appeasement by the media, and the city gained active guard. In this way, a leader must have a spirit to disposal problems.

The leader who the young people will be is a leader who will face pressing international problems, so that he or she cannot simply accomplish them without cooperation sense. For example, all nations will need to cooperate in an effort to disarm themselves of weapons of mass destruction, to control the pollution of air and water, to protect the source on the earth, to curt and prevent diseases before they become global epidemics, and so forth. In order to keep global peace, economic stability, and the species survival, each country's leader should do a good cooperation with others.

However, the spirit of cooperation could increase the power of a term itself, while the one of competition could accelerate leader to improve the term's ability faster. For instance, the economical competition makes the leader of a company investigate the situation of the competitor and make a plan which is aimed to it. Without the sense of the competition, the leader cannot lead his or her term to gain predominance. What's more, the competition with the competitors and the cooperation with the leader’s partners are not incompatible.

In sum, the society does not need a leader who has sense of cooperation and one of competition only, but who own the two senses simultaneity. A leader has sense of competition only would make the term cannot do it best, while without sense of competition there will is no leader at all. Hence, only when the leader has spirits of cooperation and competition, the term leaded by him or she would get the success.
