TOPIC: ARGUMENT200 - Statistics collectedfrom dentists indicate that three times more men than women faint whilevisiting the dentist. This evidence suggests that men are more likely to bedistressed about having dental work done than women are. Thus, dentists whoadvertise to attract patients should target the male consumer and emphasizeboth the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity oftheir staff to nervous or suffering patients.
WORDS: 459          TIME: 0:45:50         DATE: 2006-12-12(想压点写,呵呵,最后没成功:P)
提纲:
In this argument, the arguer recommendsthat in order to attract more patients, the dentists who advertise shouldtarget the male consumer and emphasize the effectiveness of their anesthetictechniques and the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients.However, this conclusion is based on some unreliable reasons.

First, the arguer cited statistics fromdentists indicate that while visiting the dentist, three times more men thanwomen faint, and this faint is caused by the distress when men has the dentalwork. However, this statistics is lacking of the reliability without detailedcomparison between the male and the female who visiting the dentist. It ispossible that the male are reluctant to visiting the dentist until the pain isserious, and the heavy situation is more likely to lead faint. It also likelythat the most male faint in dentist's report are little boys who are so youngthat less bear the pain, while the female who visits the dentist are moreadults.

What's more, perhaps women suffer more fromthe pain than men, or the anesthetic is more effective to women. It is entirelypossible that men are not adapting the smell of the hospital or they may sufferfrom other illnesses that cause the faint when they are having the dental work.All these facts may cause the faint. Without ruling out these possibilities,the arguer cans not draw a convincing conclusion that while having the dentalwork, the male are more likely to be distressed which caused faint than thefemale.

In addition, it is untenable that thearguer assumes that the advertisement in order to attract patients shouldtarget the male consumer because more men faint than women while visiting thedentist. However, even it is true that more men than women faint while visitingthe dentist, the number of the faint of the overall number of patient may bevery small. Many patient are not faint at all, and maybe more patients who morecare about the teeth health and more often come to visit the dentist arefemale.

Moreover, whether the advertisementemphasize on the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and thesensitivity of their staff will attract more patients is open to doubt. We donot know whether patients choose the dentist depends on these factors, maybethey put the ability of the dentist in the first place and take into primaryconsideration, and maybe other factors like advanced appliances and theenvironment of the hospital treatment are also be take into important account forpatients.

To sum up, the arguer fails to consider allpossible scenarios and draw a hasty conclusion that the advisement shouldemphasize the anesthetic techniques and the staff's sensitivity by ignoringmore sensitive factors .

In this argument, the arguer recommends that in order to attract more patients, the dentists who advertise should target the male consumer and emphasize the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients. However, this conclusion is based on some unreliable reasons.

First, the arguer cited statistics from dentists indicate that while visiting the dentist, three times more men than women faint, and this faint is caused by the distress when men have the dental work. However, these statistics ((used with a pl. verb)Numerical data.(与复数动词连用)数字数据)are lacking of _reliability without detailed comparison between the male and the female _visiting the dentist. It is possible that the male are not reluctant to visiting the dentist until the pain is serious, and the heavy situation is more likely to lead faint. It also likely that _ most male faint in dentist's report are little boys who are so young that less bear the pain, while the female who visit the dentist are more adults.(独到想法)

What's more, perhaps women suffer more from the pain than men, or the anesthetic is more effective to women. It is entirely possible that men are not adapting the smell of the hospital or they may suffer from other illnesses that cause the faint when they are having the dental work. All these facts may cause the faint. Without ruling out these possibilities, the arguer can not draw a convincing conclusion that while having the dental work, the male are more likely to be distressed which caused faint than the female.

In addition, it is untenable that the arguer assumes that the advertisement in order to attract patients should target the male consumer because more men faint than women while visiting the dentist. However, even it is true (that more men than women faint while visiting the dentist), 个人认为可以省去the faint number of the overall patients may be very small. (四个of太多了)Many patients are not faint at all, and maybe_ patients who more care about the teeth health and more often come to visit the dentist are female.

Moreover, whether the advertisement emphasize _ the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff will attract more patients is open to doubt. We do not know whether patients choosing the dentist depends on these factors, maybe they put the ability of the dentist in the first place and take into primary consideration, and maybe other factors like advanced appliances and the environment of the hospital treatment (nice想法)are also be take into important account by patients.

To sum up, the arguer fails to consider all possible scenarios and draws a hasty conclusion that the advisement should emphasize the anesthetic techniques and the staff's sensitivity by ignoring more sensitive factors.

总体不错,加油!
