TOPIC:ISSUE4 - "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsidersbring their knowledge and experience to that field of study."
WORDS:555 TIME: 1:45:27 DATE: 2006-12-21(欢迎批改,写完发现观点好像有一些偏,欢迎拍砖!)
The introduction of mathematical, physical methods, together with the atomism, help the primal alchemic grow into the modern chemic. Astronomy will still be the main task of augurs in form of constellation without math, physics and recently surged computer technology. Thus, no field of study can break through without the assist of knowledge and technique from outside, especially when the study seems to be in a marsh, where there is no intrinsic power is strong enough to pull it out of the dilemma.
In a global view, actually all subjects of studies are related, more or less, that's why we always find it difficult to define the boundary of them. For example, literature can never be separated from philosophy without losing its essence and vice versa. On the other hand, psychology and medical rely heavily on each other. Such interplay of two or more subjects' adumbrates the indispensability of others to a specific study. When a subject is conducted in several main directions, those who devote themselves to it are subject to limited knowledge and narrow aspects of view, which makes the study itself easily go to a dead-end alley. They will find they space of view broadened andmany new approaches emerged when they turn to those relevant subjects. Thesimplest symbol of H2O , which brings chemical to a new quantitative world, are derived partly from mathematics. Or we will still have to rely on experience, and massive productions of different useful and qualified chemical compounds will still be a dream. When we retrospect the growth of literature of mankind,we will easily find it is always inspired by philosophical questions and ardor.
Astudy can benefit a lot from even seemingly irrelevant studies. That seems to be absurd, however, the structure of the world is a symmetrical system universally. We can always find counterparts in two subjects, macrocosmically and microcosmically, materially and spiritually. Scientists conjunct the pattern of the proliferation of species with some inspiration from topology, which has almost nothing to do with biology at that time. They find the marvelous similarities between some topology games and the subtle balance of some species, which are kept so well that man have been confused for its delicacy and reliability for centuries.
The computer science is one the latest subject whose great help nearly covers all other subjects from literacy to art, from biology to marine, from mechanical to electronic engineering. Computer, as a peerless powerful tool, can offerversatile functions like simulation, computation, analysis, database, processing with its strong calculation power and speed, which are tens of thousands and even much more times of the ability of an individual. Not for computer's magic capability, many subjects cannot reach their breakthroughs when they are conscribed by the heavy and in-efficient calculation of human beings. Other subjects should owe their achievements largely to computer's help with providing a artificial system, which is needed in experiments while impossible or at least not so easy to get in real world.
The knowledge of man is only a little part of a giant iceberg. In the research ofone specific subject, we need knowledge and experience from other studies towiden our ken, to inspire us and to help us. This kind of interdependence help severy subject to develop more efficiently and productively with relatively less time.
