教育的目的应该是建立一个与世隔离的学术环境。这种环境是很理想的，因为这样学生们就可以不被日常事务牵扯精力而专注地研究重要问题。


According to this statement, education should strive as much as possible to keep students from the practical matters to focus on essential points. This statement is failed in two respects. First, it wrongly recognizes the “important idea” in education is far away from the real life, of which the studying will easily be disturbed by the concerns of practical. In fact, abundant subjects are applicable science, which means they can not develop or apply without connecting with practical world. Second, it failed in the logic of the development of education. Let students just focus on the theories will lead the whole academic world back to useless, just like scholasticism.

Firstly, almost the whole academic field is developing with the connecting with real world, both science and art. Consider, for example, Psychology will never be comprehended when it separated from human daily products and thinking. If education created environment that students major in psychology never be touch with the outside, they will hard to deal with this subject. And students major in painting will difficult to get any inspiration without the observing of outside world. Academic world is refining from common life, not from the heaven. The process of study should not be separated from outside world. The development of academy must depend on common life.

Furthermore, students in academic environment separated from daily life will feel tedious and dreary very soon. What education to do is to enlighten the learner, not accelerate them escaping from the major.

Secondly, it failed that academic world is completely different from practical. Instead, academic researching is to serve the common life, not to negative it. Let’s back to the example mentioned above, students whose studying process without the compare of the daily human product will make the subject boring and useless in the future. Generation to generation, the subject will not focus on the outside world, which will easily make itself die out. The same to every subject, our academic world will get back to the dark age, and all of them will degenerate to scholasticism, for instance, how many angles stand on one pinpoint.

To sum up, Giving up the whole real world to protect the students’ focus on the knowledge is too unilateral. What education to do is to enlighten the learner to find inspiration in practical life. Or, we need another Renaissance to liberate our durance soul, not an advanced one, just a same one like hundreds years ago, which is complete shunt back.
