题目：ARGUMENT13 - The following appeared in a memo from the chief executive of a video game company.

"We have recently been offered the opportunity to buy the rights to produce a video game based on the soon-to-be-published children's book "Squirrel Power," by Peter Wood. While the cost of the rights is substantial and will place economic constraints on our company in the short-term, there are two reasons that the purchase of these rights will undoubtedly be a wise investment. First, Wood's last three books have been best sellers and the movie based on his first book was highly profitable. Second, the popular characters and story line in "Squirrel Power" will save us time in developing our video game, thereby reducing our costs."

   In this argument, the author conclude that the company should buy the rights to produce a video game based on the soon-to-be published children's book wrote by Peter Wood. To support the conclusion, the author points out that the last three books of Wood have been best seller and movie based on fist books was profitable and that the company's time will be saved by the popular characters and story line in "Squirrel Power". In several aspects, the argument has some flaws.
   First of all, the author mentions that the purchase of these rights is be wise investment. However, there is no evidence that these rights will take company the profits. Moreover, the economic constraints and substantial cost of rights might lead to the company  unable to take any effective action to develop the video game, and the market. For example, who would buy these video game? how much the development of video cost? and how many these video game would be sold after they are available in market?  Without evaluate the cost , marketing and profit in the future ,the author can not easily make such a conclusion that the purchase is a wise investment.  
  Secondly, the author mentions two reason that the purchase of these rights will be undoubtedly worthy. However, the reasons the last three books have been best sellers and the first book's movie was profitable would not necessarily indicates that the soon to be published children's book "Squirrel Power" be best seller and the video game based on it is highly profitable. It's entirely possible that the soon-to-be-published book has not catch up with his three books since It's the children's book. Or its possible that because its first time that Wood write the children's book , this book is a bad work. In other reason,  the characters and story line will ,the author mentions, save time in developing game, reducing cost. However, time reduction in developing the video game would not necessarily lead to reduce the cost. the staff will have to read these story , digest it and transfer it to the story that video game should likely be. these procedures will probably cost much more time than it's company 's own story line and characters.
   In conclusion, the conclusion that the company should buy "Squirrel Power" 's right to produce a video game seems logic since Wood -the "Squirrel Power’s writer , have wrote three books which are best sellers and movie based these books was profitable. However, before the final conclusion is made, the author should consider that  whether the "Squirrel Power" is best seller and the video game based on it was profitable. The author should  evaluate the market and the cost of developing such a video game based on it.
