------题目------
The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
------正文------
Taking a general view of the history, we usually spend considerable long time to analyze many significant events and trends. As the research going on, some new discoveries and comprehension turn on. It is reasonable that those typical individuals may be analyzed more, while other aspects related to the events should also be discussed.
My first reason is that the few and famous individuals are representative in the historical events and trends. They may be considered as sparkles in historical events. Placing emphasis on them, we can learn and remember history easily. For instance, when we refer to Adolf Hitler, a figure of dictator in World War II probably flashes in our minds quickly. And we could more easily mention a series of historic events related to him; such as he carried out despotism in Germany and launched the slaughter of Jew, rather than refering to a soldier of Nazi who is unknown or one of victims whose identity might be forgotten. Therefore, playing emphasis on the few famous figure is a more efficient way for us to remember the event and understand them easily.
My second reason is that we could learn from the individuals, since they are typical in the general people and could give great models to people. We could not deny that the famous few play important roles in historic events, and their reputation came from their influence to the society and people. A case in point is Marie Curie, a Polish-born French chemist and physicist. We would not only know the fact that she discovered the radium, a chemical substance, but also honor her academic achievement and learn from her perseverance in the research process. Because the story that Madam Curie refined the radium in a shanty suffering from cold and poor has deeply influence many people. Another famous person I would like to refer to is Giordano Bruno, an Italian renaissance philosopher. He suffered death penalty because of his ideas opposing to the Roman authorities. Just to memorize his courage for pursuing free thought, a statue was erected on the site of his martyrdom.
Admittedly, analyzing an event from different angles would contribute to know the fact and get a full and reasonable conclusion, which would be useful to further research. For example, another eyewitness of World War II might show something new details about the evidence and help us to understand facts across-the-aboard. After all, historic events were composed by lots of people, most of who are unknown common populace. Furthermore, some objective factors are indispensable to the whole events. Just as the old saying goes, the times produce their heroes. The political situation and foundation are also important. So we could not ignore other people, who are relative to the events but not famous, and the objective conditions in a historic events.
In sum, we need more analysis and investigation on the typical individuals and could not ignore the general groups in order to understand historical events and guide further trends. And generally, emphasizing on representative individuals will help us to learn history more effectively.
