Practicality is now our great idol, which all powers and talents must serve. Anything that is not obviously practical has little value in today's world.

The author asserts that anything which is not obviously practical has little value in the world nowadays. I have to concede that in the crucial competitive world, human should spend much attention on the practicality in order to survive.  However, in my opinion, the things which is not obviously practical may be valuable and it is not constructive to say that all powers and talents must serve to the only problems that have obvious practicality.

In the first, everything has a degree of practicality. The only difference is some of them can be utilized by human immediately, while some of them do not have obvious practicality currently and they may essential to the later generations. For instance, in the ancient times, people insist that the science does have no value to the society. The majority of people prefer to trust the superstition rather than doing some objective research. These beliefs may construct an obstacle to the human civilization in the long run. To enumerate another example, human does not pay enough attention to the pollution hundreds years ago. Our environment on the earth is seriously polluted through the development of industrialization. Even though some developed countries have been aware of these problems and make some effort to prevent the pollution recent years, the damage on the ecology system can not easily be solved such as the dramatic decreased of the forest areas and ozone in the atmosphere.

In the second, anything that is not obviously practical does not mean that it has little value in today's world. Our government should have enough insight to make the right decisions and give enough support to some projects which does seems little obviously practical now but may be significant for human survival and thriving tomorrow. For example, some theoretical research in some areas such as mathematics, physics and chemistry does have little obviously practicality and cannot bring any fortune to the society immediately. However, the society should pay enough powers and talents to maintain their research. 70 years ago, no one knew that the theory of Relativity which revolutionized the modern thought of the space and time concluded by Albert Einstein will lead to the success of nuclear weapons. Therefore, it is unwarranted to say that all powers and talents must only serve to the things which has obvious practicality currently.

Admittedly, some things which will be prosperous in the future does has little value in today's world. If we concentrate on these issues, we may cost a large amount of recourses but can not get the benefits we hope immediately. But in the long run, the next generation will acknowledge the accomplishments achieved by the previous people.

To sum up, everything in our world has something practical and anything that is not obviously practical does not mean it has no value to our world. Even we assume that some things may have little value in today's world, but we cannot definitely assert that they will not become useful and valuable in the future. The author's claims that all the powers and talents must serve the things which has obvious practicality may turn out to be hasty and overemphasis.

还是有个提纲吧

嘿嘿,我的观点是反对,只不过想写的客观一点

感觉constructive这个词是不大好,我改成 unadvisable了
