------题目------
The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.
'Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months.'
------正文------
The arguer draws the conclusion that Whirlwind will sale much more video games in the following months. The evidence and the assumption provided are too weak to make this argument valid.

First of all, the result of the survey about the most important features in a video game is open to doubt. There is no suffice evidence to demonstrate that the reliability and generalize of the survey. Perhaps, the players questioned are all female who are only a few parts of video-game plays. Perhaps, most people in the survey are high ages who prefer the lifelike graphics, but not the teenagers. Without considering all of these factors, Whirlwind may not success in catering the preferring features in the game to the people 10 to 25 years old. Unless the arguer considers all the factors in the survey, the result of it is quite unfounded.

In addition, even if the survey reveals that most players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, it is too hasty for the arguer to make an assumption that there will have a big sale of this kind of video game. For one thing, there target customer--students may not afford this game, which have high quality of lifelike graphics and high price. For another thing, the teenagers at 10 to 25 years old may not have the up-to-date computers, which the game need. They may consider some other kind of games they will enjoy and have the right computer condition to play. The arguer fails to convince us that their video-game will have much customers and sales as they think.

At last, no suffice evidence is proved that the extensive advertising is useful in sale such games. It is possible that the customers are not interested in these advertisements. They will not choose these games to play. It is also possible that the players who are elder than 25 years old have more interesting in their games. Moreover, their competitors do a more attractive advertisement in the same kind of games, which have high quality of lifelike graphics. The players are more interesting in trying those games. Without ruling out these possibilities, how can this conclusion be told?

To sum up, the argument is neither logically sound nor persuasive. To better bolster and strengthen the argument, the arguer needs to guarantee us that people at 10 to 25 years old would like to buy their products.
