How to protect one nation's cultural tradition is always a hot debate. Some people insist that cultural traditions were always thrived in the major cities in history so that finance the cities will better preserve them, while others argue that cities are now becoming more and more international, preserving theirs old traditions may be impossible, financing some remaining culture in remote villages could be a feasible choice. In my opinion, both are reasonable to some extent. When facing this problem, we should analyze case by case, balance the financial support to cities and villages.

Nearly all major cities have played a significant role during history. They are always the centre of one country's economics, politics and culture, representing the attitude and customs of that time, regarded as the most prosperous parts  in that time. They are root of old traditions, old cultures generated from there. They are leaders of national cultural transition and reform past, which makes them behavior of national traditional cultural. Take Cairo in Egypt, Paris in France, Roman in Italy and Beijing in China for instance. All these cities are now capital of their countries now and in addition, capital of their countries for sometime in history. Their own special architectures which can be view as the symbols of the countries, like pyramids in Egypt, in France, of old Roma in Italy as well as The Great wall and The Forbidden City in China. Some old customs are still left to the daily life in those cities, like some traditional food and performance. Since they are so important in preserving traditions, government should definitely pay much attention on them, giving some funding for the cities and rebuild or repair some destroyed architectures.

Although major cities are represent of traditional cultures, we can not deny the fact that in nowadays' overwhelm globalization trend, major cities get more and more international. High skyscrapers, convenience traffic and huge malls and shopping centers are the new feature of those cities. Them become more similar to each other than anytime else in history. I think every one may feel indifference when walking in the downtown of Paris or New York. By this trend, government should be more cautious. For one thing, they should provide support, whether in material or in some other forms, to major cities, preventing old culture from vanishing. For the other, they should not ignore other part of the country where traditions can be better protect without affecting, that is some towns and villages.

Because far away from the cities and affecting of outside, small towns and villages can maintain old customs in their own way. You may find that some traditions disappear in major cities are still well preserved there, like some India customs in some tribes of West American or some traditions of minority in remote village of some countries. Even in some part of those areas, people are still eating, work and entertainment in traditional ways. Those are complements of mainstream culture which is generated in big cities and contributes to a complete culture system of a country. Their values deserve the government's emphasize and financial support.

In sum, to best protect the cultural traditions, government should not only focus on the major cities even they play the momentous part in history but also pay attention to some small towns or villages because of their long lasting traditions. To extreme policy would cannot lead a full-scale maintenance and develop of culture.
