Nowadays, mass media like television and movies have become an indispensable part of people’s life. Moreover, they have exerted a great influence on people’s behavior. Just as every coin has two sides, the influence of the television and movies has positive side and negative side according to the content of movies or TV programs and according to the audiences.

On the positive side, we can see two important points. Firstly, the movies or TV programs can reduce the people’s stress in the real day life. A case in point is that sit-com, soap operas and comedy movies in front of the screen bring the people and their family great fun after a long week heavy work. And sometimes some movies or TV programs even provide good choices for our problems. Secondly, some great TV programs and movies, by showing the significant meaning of life and what people have neglected for a long time, have a good impact on the people’s behavior. For instance, the documentary reporting the tragedy life of the African children who are infected with AIDS or injured in the endless wars help people all over the world realize the serious issues concerned about the health and world peace. In this way, people might try their best to take effective measures whatever the diseases prevention of WHO or the donation from individual and country support to limit the harm of these world issues.

On the negative side, there are two cases we should mention. One is that the ever-increasing violence scenes in the TV program or movies raise the rate of the crime according to the verified statistics. People copy the violence behaviors in the TV program or movies consciously or unconsciously when they are addicted to the violence content of programs. Another is that too much time on the TV program or movies especially which are filled with trash and distraction steal away the precious time and attention from our family and friends.

Judging from these factors above, we can see clearly the influence of movies or TV programs on the people’s behavior. We indeed gain some benefits from the influence when it comes to reducing stress of the people’s life and recognizing the some serious problems, but we must take every effective measure to limit the harmful impact of television and movies on people’s behavior including increased crime and distraction from significant things we must pay attention to.
