The speaker asserts that no matter what kinds of results are achieved from research, it is reasonable for people to invest on research. It might be temping to agree with the speaker on the basis that money should be spent on research which will make our life more convenient and comfortable. However, if money spent on research hardly affects and changes our society, investment on such research might be wasteful.

The implicit rationale behind the speaker’s statement seems to be that evaluation of the investment on research depends on the effect and results. If the results is feasible and are witnessed as good for the society, money should be spent on it. Although our nation had spent a lot of money on A-test in 1964, there are little countries look down on our nation and our international politic station is enhanced. Research on A-test is a big challenge for our nation as a risen country. Without successful A-test, our nation will become lonely as a socialism country and other nation may infringe our interests and rights.

On the other hand are arguments that money spent on research such as harmful weapons. Although nuclear weapons have huge power of changing one nation into big and strong, other countries without these weapons will be afraid of the country with nuclear weapon. If other countries have controversial on some issues, these countries might be threatened by nuclear power.

In the final analysis, money speant o n research which can produce good results is encouraged and money is invested in some field which will hamper the peace and harmony of society is banned. We should invest more on good research and avoid from bad ones.
