The speaker asserts that watching tv can substituted for reading books in the age
of television. In my point of view, however, I disagree with the speaker's suggestion. Compared with television, still books have exclusive superiority. Calling for a balance in which there are watching television and reading books is more important for our learning.
First , television can impart new event more fleetly than books. In the business field, television has some apparent advantages. For transmitting a great deal of information quickly, consumers could know the necessary information about the products by the advertisements on TV. Unlike outmoded and abstract characterization of a product from books,  tv advertisements display many aspects of one product such as shape, color and volume. By watching TV, consumers have visual conception of  the products and they can make proper decision whether buying those products or not. When the Marlboro cigarette broadcast a famous advertisement in 1954, the Marlboro is readily knew and accepted. The classical
image of an virile cowboy in the western parts of the US and his saying that come
to where the flavor is, Marlboro Country are to dwell upon with great relish by most of cigar consumers.
In addition, as every coin has two sides. The shortcoming of watching TV is obvious. For Example, overly watching television is against one's health especially to eyes and the price of Up -to -date television is high. To the contrary, books are cheap and not able to injure Our health. What is more to our learning about new knowledge, watch TV  is dangerous even destructive. According to a recent survey, many specialists point out that  accepting information from tv blindly, will  strangle one's imagination which is human's most  precious fortune. Because  visual figure from watching tv give people intuitionist receipt dispense with reflection about forming material image like reading books. As time passes, men are used to accept information passively and lose their innovative capability.Expert's thesis can be proved by a simple illustration the all schools in the world use books as central teaching toolsrather than using television.
In modern society, a trend of synchronizing the advantages between watching tv and reading books emergences. With doubt It is good of being recommended .It will solve the problem in a certain aspect. Such as notebook PC and HDTV which have  functions are derived from old-fashioned television and books.For instance, PDA (short for personal digital assistant),A typical PDA can function as a cellular phone, fax sender, Web browser and personal organizer. You can use it acquire more useful information than watching tv. It incorporated hand handwriting recognition features which is similar to using pen noting  on a real book. However , it is more  convenient than conventional method of reading book.
In sum, no matter what reading books or watching  tv is concidered, they both have unique advantages. At present, we should study new knowledge mainly depend on reading books with and aid of TV.  It may be ad appreciable way to takes.
