The statement asserts that the absence of choice is a circumstance that is very rare, which is too absolute and arbitrary. In fact, people deal with three kinds of phenomena in their daily life: facts, thoughts, and activities. The choice of facts is always absent, while the alternative of thoughts is always existing, and the choice of activities is partly restricted.

First of all, people do not have rights to choose facts, because of the variability of natural rules is unavailable for human beings. Neither can people choose to maintain their life without eating and drinking, nor can they choose to live for ever. People cannot choose to live in a fixed place without the alternation of days and seasons, as they cannot determine the movement of the Earth. People cannot choose to change past events, since they cannot revise the pass of time. Neither can they choose their parents, nor can they choose different results of completed competitions. Facts are determined by natural rules, which will never change a bit according to human wishes or urges. As a result, the choice of facts is always absent.

On the contrary, people have abilities to choose thoughts as they like. Imagination is so free that no natural or social restrictions can be placed on it. People can create anything in their mind, even those seeming absurd and impossible in reality. They can decide their consideration of any facts, and choose future activities. They can either choose to think that the sun is green, or choose to think that the Earth is flat. They can either choose to attribute failures to fortune, or choose to admit the lack of ability. Therefore, the choice of thoughts is always existing.

Besides, the choice of activities is partly limited, because of the influence from natural and social conditions. Though people can choose different jobs according to their abilities, they cannot refuse to work, or they cannot obtain fundamental living supplies. People can choose different majors according to their interests, but they cannot choose the same major and desert others, otherwise the society cannot operate smoothly. In order to preserve the stability of society, people have to obey laws and morality. People have to gain knowledge and develop skills, so as to achieve better living conditions. As the schemes to reach certain intentions are restricted by natural facts and social environment, the choice of activities have to obey relevant limitations.

In conclusion, people do not have rights to choose facts, but they have abilities to create alternatives of thoughts, while the choice of their activities is partly limited by natural and social conditions.
