Nobody will deny the contribution of artist who give us a treasure of human's live track and give our common people the chance to know many things which are much different from daily lives. At the same time, we should appreciate the critics, people who work to evaluate art works, help us to understand the works of artists. Therefore, when I partly agree with this issue, I should claim that critic also gives society something of lasting values even deep in our spirit.

To the simple part, critics work as the bridge between our common people and prominent artists. They lead us to cross them and arrive at another side of comprehension of art works. Usually works of prominent artists are too difficult  for us to understand the creator's true intention, the reason is not only we have not got enough knowledge but also the work is definitely recondite to grasp its hidden meanings. Therefore, the comments of critics will be much of significant to us. Without critics, these works can only serve a fraction of people in certain fields and cannot be cognized by whole human beings and ultimately become really worth of exalting from generations to generations. In a word, critics are not only evaluate the works of art, but also help promote works to be filled with lasting values.

To the deep part, we cannot so harsh to separate the critics from artists. To my shallow knowledge, critics can also be defined as one group of special artists who are not creating art works but help to spread the deep spirit of art works. To all known, in order to evaluate the works of art critics have to learn to understand the connotation of works rather than the surface of works, therefore they must have certain depth of comprehension of art which cannot be obtained by some days' learning, it muse be a long time job. So despite that they do not create any famous art works, they still can be defined as artists since they give human beings something of lasting values in another way.

However, I should confess that art is not the kind of mass culture. Through the help of critics we can know much of art works, however, we cannot rely on them to grasp all. First, to understand totally we must have required knowledge to grasp what critics say about art works. If we cannot make certain what they say, that comments of critics will be invalid for us. Second, criticism is somewhat subjective and different critics will have different perception to one work that will make us confused. For above, there must be plenty of art works that we cannot understand their connotation. But this unknowable is another factor, beside broad cognition of people, to make art word filled with lasting values.

To sum up, either artist or critic are give society something of lasting values, artist gives us many profound works and critic gives us the understanding of that works. Both way, we learn the lasting values. Both way, we should thank. Both of them give us treasure to memorize in minds.
