The great changes in daily living since the video camera，which provides a totally new and different way of recording life comparing to the traditional written methods, came into being. With regard to me, although the video camera provides such an accurate and compelling record of contemporary life, it cannot completely replace the record in form of writing in some extent.

It is true that, compared with written records, video documentation is much less influenced by the misinterpretation because of ancient language. Since language itself is always on the change, if we have not undergone specialized training of old language，we may find it difficult to understand the written documents of our ancestor from hundreds of years ago. Even if those professionals, who have learned to understand ancient literature, transform the documents into forms acceptable of our contemporary culture and make their great efforts to avoid misinterpretation or over-conjecture, the original information our ancestor inclined to convey cannot be assured to be fully interpreted. In contrast, Video camera is an objective media rather than an ambiguous conveyer. It can record things directly without the effects from the change of language and additional misinterpretation of old languages. In front of the television, without these disturbing factors, we can watch and easily understand the record of video-camera unless we unfortunately have difficulty in sight.

Another conspicuous advantage of video records is that it can ensure the original integrity of facts which makes the record more accurate and convincing. Written records are vulnerable to both the unavoidable missing of recording and deliberate modification when reviewed and handed on. This disadvantage heavily hampered the soundness of the record or even totally alternated it. In contrast, seldom can the video camera records lose any fragments in the records because of carelessness or the deliberate modification. Not only can we appreciate the video records of the whole football match without missing any details but can also learn cooking easily from the video records of the whole procedure of cooking.

However, since video record is limited in several aspects, it is hasty to say that video camera has already won over traditional written documents. There are still many fields that video camera cannot be used as powerful methods or recording. For example, compared with the signed contrast record in form of inscription, video records is somewhat less useful to record a complex contractual agreement. video records is still useless to document the feeling and ideas of individuals since people can convey the superficial impressions to veil their true feeling and real ideas. Therefore, the written documents record of these abstract matters from people is effective and credible.

In conclusion, we cannot say whether video camera or the written document is more important than the other in that each one has its irreplaceable merits and values. Video camera offers the accurate and convincing method of recording which can revive the life while traditional written document can provide a more detailed and rational record in some certain fields. Both of the two will be important tools for our human-being to hand information as complete and accurate as possible to future people for study.
