216The following appeared in a magazine article about planning for retirement.
"Because of its spectacular natural beauty and consistent climate, Clearview should be a top choice for anyone seeking a place to retire. As a bonus, housing costs in Clearview have fallen significantly during the past year, and real estate taxes remain lower than those in neighboring towns. Nevertheless, Clearview's mayor promises many new programs to improve schools, streets, and public services. Retirees in Clearview can also expect excellent health care as they grow older, since the number of physicians in the area is far greater than the national average."

In this argument, the arguer recommends that Clearview is a good choice for anyone seeking a place to retire. In order to support his recommendation, the arguer cites that Clearview has spectacular natural beauty and consistent climent. In addition, the arguers provides the bonus in Clearview is considerable, the housing costs are disinclined and the real estate is low. Moreover, the arguer mentions that the mayor of Clearview promises new programs to improve the city. Finally, the arguer provides that the number of physics in Clearview is far greater than the national average. At first glance, the recommendation seems very attractive and convincing, however, would reveal how groundless it is.
In the first place, the natural beauty and climate is not only the criterions for people retirees to choose place to enjoy their afterlife days. There are other factors also influence the retirees to make up their minds. The social security and agreeable neighbourhood are also important for the retirees. If everyyear the city attracts lot of tourists because of its natural beauty and consistent climate.Obviously it is not a ideal place to choose as a retire place.
In the second place, the arguer cited the bonus in Clearview is not convincing. At first, although the housing cost have fallen significantly in the past years,if the housing cost in the past are rather high,it is quite possible that after the fall, the price is still on a high level compared with other cities. In addition, real estate tax lower than those in neighboring towns does not mean the real estate tax in Clearview is low.Perhaps the real estate tax in neighboring town is fairly high,so the real estate tax in Clearview is still high.Futhermore, the arguer only mentions one kind of tax,and doesn’t count other tax.If other tax are all rather high,it is not a good attraction to the retirees.
Futhermore, though the arguer mentions that the mayor of the city promised to many new programs to improve the school, streets, and public services, the promise does not ensure that the autual situation and good progress. And schools, streets and public services are not essential elements for retirees to determine the place for retirement,in fact,a lot of older people prefer the peaceful and rural lifestyles.Other prefer a lot of service and club for their coagers to spend life together.
Finally, the number of physicians in Clearview that the arguer provided is meaningless. The number of physicians is greater than the national average that could not guarantee the quality of physicians are greater. The number of the physician has nothing related with the quality of the physician. If the quality of the physician is not so great, the retirees could not choose such area.
In sum,the the recommendation is not well reasoning and lacks credibility because evidence cited in the analysis dose not lead to support to what the recommendation maintains. To make the recommendation more convincing, the arguer need to provide that the bonus in Clearview is real and the mayor will take measurements improve the public services for people in old age.Additionally,it would be essential for the arguer to prove that the physicians in Clearview could also provide great health care for old peole. |
