Since the invention of the video camera, it adds a new record of the contemporary life. With the society development, video camera play a important parts in documenting the affairs, whatever is big or small,  took long times or short one.  Because its necessity, some people may think them as more important form of documentation than written records.  As for me, although it have great function in record, written records remain the most important and indispensable form of documentation.

To begin with, video camera, being a great invention, affects the customs of record in contemporary life. In modern society, all the information changes so complicate and quickly that no every detail can be grasped by human eyes, no to mention recording while listening or watching.  Sports Game tends to be a good example in such conditions, with the Olympic spirit, the sport Game hand for the more quickly, higher and stronger, the race, the rowboat and the pursuit race all use the video camera as the judgment tools. However the functions of the video camera are not limited in this in sports. Many athletes rectify their acting through the recording their acts in the sports such as the tennis, basketball and badminton. Video camera becomes a valuable documentation in Sports.

In the area of the inspection, video camera is always used in different condition. Without video camera, the traffic controlling system will be less efficiency. We can not know about the road status in real-time and the control information can only be passed through other media, postponing the best time for controlling and leading to the traffic jam. Also, it can inspects the happen of the crime. With the record of the whole crime process and the suspect image, it will promote the possibility of seizing the criminal.  

Admittedly, the video camera can not take the place of the written records.  Its vivid and visual records may not be suitable in every ambience. For example, the legal clauses are best left to written documentation, for their complexity of the item. The video camera is of no use in the controversially commercial contracts, in documentation the human feeling, mind, and experiences and in theoretical provement in the areas of the mathematics, physics and chemistry. Such conditions mentions above are more elementary need for records and accordingly the written documentation is more important than the video camera. Overall, the written records also occupy the great status in everyday life.

As the result, the arguer's claim overstates the functions of video records, at least to some extent.  When facing with documenting the short, quick, spatial information, video camera tends to be your best choice. However when facing with documenting the abstract , concrete and reasoning information,  written documentation ranks first in the form of documentation.
