Issue144 "It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value."(548)

No doubt that it is the artist, not the critic, brings us a huge number of works of art. Therefore, that the artworks we enjoy in a museum or somewhere else were almost all created by the artist even date back to the original civilization. But if there were no critic's objective evaluation to the works of art created by artists, the realm of art may be, if so, still in a state of confusion. For the reason that the critic's appraisement will give the works lasting value or make them die. So the critic's evaluation is one of the most important factors to evaluate artworks.

The speaker's view should be admitted for the reason that it is true that artist creates a large amount of artworks of lasting value since the earliest human civilization. As we all know, Beethoven, one of the greatest musicians in Germany, composed the symphony No.5 and No.9 which considered as two of the most well known symphonies all over the world. It is the works that encouraged himself and the people like him who were suffering unfortunate things. And his music let him live on. What is more, the others artworks just like Beethoven's symphonies keep influence a great many people nowadays.

It is conceded that artist create a lot of artworks, however they are not able or no rights to make the decision that what kind of artworks could be the ones of lasting value. The artist's views for the works of their own will be widely considered as the subjective, unfair and loaded judgments. While, the critics, compared with artists, will be known as their objectivity and equity. We can make such an analogy that it is hard for us to find the fallacies of our own, because we manage events, only correctly believed by us, according to our subjective view and ethic. It is same as us that the artist creates artworks based on the artistic perspective of them. Thus, the society needs the critics make the judgment by social aspect fairly and objectively.

But it has to acknowledge that the views of the critics are interfered by multifarious of factors from every corner of the society, which sometimes get the critic make wrong judgment. Anton Bruckner's life is a strong illustration to support my opinion. In the 1870s, Vienna, Bruckner concentrated on writing symphonies; but the Vienna Philharmonic and some critics claimed that his works are wild, nonsense, unplayable and even unperformable. He was criticized for his Wagnerian leanings during the bitter Brahms-Wagner rivalries. However, in the 1880s, his music began to be performed in Germany and elsewhere, and he received many honors as well as grants from some critics and the Austrian government. The evidence mentioned above shows that Bruckner's works was not comprehend and admitted by the critics during his early years misunderstood by some social problems. Thus it can be seen that the critics should avoid this interferent and make the objective, just and representative judgment for the masses so that the real lasting value of the works are founded and developed.

In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that the critics give society something of lasting value from more profound aspect, although it is created by artists.

Issue144 "It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value."(548)

No doubt that it is the artist, not the critic, brings us a huge number of works of art.[开头这句不太合适,你写的不是完全赞同的观点,这么说看着像完全赞同了,换个I concede 之类的?] Therefore, that the artworks we enjoy in a museum or somewhere else were almost all created by the artist even date back to the original civilization. But if there were no critic's [critics’] objective evaluation to the works of art created by artists, the realm of art may be, if so, still in a state of confusion. For the reason that the critic's appraisement will give the works lasting value or make them die. So the critic's evaluation is one of the most important factors to evaluate artworks. [这段好长,论述也挺好,觉得都能当正文段了,原因之类可以再简洁点,其他的留着正文用]

The speaker's view should be admitted for the reason that it is true that artist [没冠词也不是复数,改artists,后面也改复数] creates a large amount of artworks of lasting value since the earliest human civilization. As we all know, Beethoven, one of the greatest musicians in Germany, composed the symphony [symphonies] No.5 and No.9 which considered as two of the most well known symphonies all over the world. It is the works that encouraged himself and the people like him who were suffering unfortunate things. And his music let him live on. What is more, the others [other] artworks just like Beethoven's symphonies keep influence a great many people nowadays. [这一段的例子主要再说艺术对人的影响,尤其是精神上的,没有点中他们创造lasting value,是不是应该重点说一下啊]

It is conceded that artist [跟前面一样 artists] create a lot of artworks, however they are not able or no rights [rights 是名词,和前面连起来是,they are no rights,好像不对了啊] to make the decision that what kind of artworks could be the ones of lasting value. The artist's views for the works of their own will be widely considered as the subjective, unfair and loaded judgments. While, the critics, compared with artists, will be known as their objectivity and equity. We can make such an analogy that it is hard for us to find the fallacies of our own, because we manage [managed] events, only correctly believed by us, according to our subjective view and ethic.

In the 1870s, Vienna, Bruckner concentrated on writing symphonies; but the Vienna Philharmonic and some critics claimed that his works are wild, nonsense, unplayable and even unperformable [没这个词啊…换一个]. [例子很恰当,那个人我不认识,记下来记下来不过例子写的有些生硬,看看范文,再练练]

In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that the critics give society something of lasting value from more profound aspect, although it is created by artists.
