I agree with the speaker insofar that the study of history benefits human beings considerably by exploring the basic nature of human society. However, while wrongly negating the benefit of history study through the realization of the particularity of different times, the speaker also falsely limits the value of history study to applicative realms and neglects the profits in creative domains.

Admittedly, the study of history provides people with the fundamental characteristics of the evolvement of human civilization, which benefit human beings remarkably in making correct decisions and avoiding unnecessary problems. The similarities of successful people, such as respectable morality, excellent socialization, and great assiduity, offer ordinary residents perfect references of self development, while the similar failures of organizations, governments, and countries demonstrate importance to improve the living conditions of common citizens, to develop scientific studies as well as commercial status, and to preserve steady relationships with others. The study of history shows basic rules of human activities, for example, the pursuit of high reputations and maximum profits. These fundamental rules help people understand the current situation and predict future evolvement.

Nevertheless, the realization of the particularity in different history times also benefits human beings significantly by encourage people to examine current situations in details. For example, in the times of land transportation, the economic centers are often located in the connections of rivers and roads, while in the times of navigation, the richest areas are usually located along the seashore. The consequent transportation principles, exchanging materials, and relevant industries are considerably different, and the corresponding food inclinations, clothes preferences, and living styles are remarkably distinguished. Such differences emphasize the importance of accurate and detailed observations as well as analysis of contemporary situations, in order to conduct comprehensive consideration and prevent unverified deduction.

Furthermore, the benefit of history study is not limited to applicative realms such as making decisions and solving problems, but also in creative areas, whether academically, culturally, or artistically.
