As the rapid development of the market economy and the social common culture, more and more faculty of college and university begin to do some part-time jobs outside our campus, violently contrasting with little teachers have relations with social communities unrelated with their academic world several decades ago(似乎有语法问题). Many people feel uncomfortable about the change which they think will do no good to improve the quality of instruction at college and but the material condition of the faculty, while some regard this change as progresses of our society(句意有些不明,while和but都有转折的意思,but放在那似乎不是很对). After final consideration, I think the decisions should depend on a case-by-case analysis of several factors.
For one thing, we have to take account into the nature of the work the faculty engaged in. To many teachers who teach subjects like physics, chemistry and math, they have to do many scientific jobs in addition to the routine teaching work. And most of what they do have little relation with the practical commercial circumstance(似乎这不应该和商业课程有关系,应该直接写practical work) and most of them are at the theoretical level---have a long distance to apply the knowledge. Frankly speaking, giving instruction to students about jobs are not their responsibilities. So no benefits will be got if teachers like them(指代谁) spending time working outside the academic world in professions irrelevant to the courses they teach. Maybe, if they do so, the quality of instruction they give students about scientific experiments will decrease as they spend less time on them. While, on the contrary, they can really give better instruction to students if the teachers related with social subjects. For many of those students major in social subjects, the ability to adapt society and working experience will make them easier to do their jobs after graduation. And if their tutor afford some work unrelated with their coures, their tutors can get more life experience and a deep perception about the society. And therefore, they can get a higher quality of instruction.(有些看不明白,tutors是家庭教师的意思)
The teacher's interest is another thing which can not be omitted. It has to be admitted that the faculty of universities are human beings but no gods. So, they have hobbies themselves. When they are at work, they do their best. While, they have their choices after work. Some throw themselves in jobs unrelated their academic world and many delights they can get from them. While the other prefer to be devoted in their academic world all day long they find it fancy. If we force them step out their world in order to improve the quality of instruction which depress them, it is possible that we get the opposite function. In conclusion, we cannot force the faculty do things against their own choices, and we have no power in doing that. So there is no "should" in this sense.(不错,观点值得借鉴)
And finally, we have to consider that whether there is proper job for the faculty to do in order to improve the quality of instruction. We are in a stage of a society having not got perfect development. For many teachers in liberal arts major, they want to do other jobs outside the liberal arts realm. However, in this world more and more people losing their jobs, it is difficult for them to find another satisfied job with out special talent in the world outside their academic realm. So we can not require them to must find one and we cannot blame them for this inability. (和第一段意思似乎差不多,都是表达一个有些老师由于某种原因不适合去做)
Whether we accept or not, it is a fact that more and more faculty of universities go out of their academic world. And whether students can get a higher quality of instruction, that depends on the three major factors mentioned above. Even some one still is unsatisfied with my analysis, at least, we can see the complexity of this issue which is a controversy and difficult to get to the same opinion.
总体结构还是清晰的,但第二段有些地方写的不是很贴切,感觉有些怪.
呵呵,以上只是一些建议,有不对请指出,大家一起努力吧:) |
