88.Technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics.

Do technologies not only influence but actually determine social custom and ethics ? From the perspective of me, technologies have radically changed people's lives in many aspects such as the means of communication, getting information and alter our educational system to some extent.. Yet, technology making people's lives more colorful does not mean it can determine our social custom and ethics.

In the first place, technology have utterly changed the way people communicate with each other.
For the way of writing letters is so slow and troublesome, fewer and fewer people use it at present
day. Instead of it, cell phones, e-mails, various chatting tools that are simpler and more convenient are the major means that people use to contact their relatives, friends and colleagues. That is, they can get in touch with anyone with whom they want to chat without any time and location limits. Thus, our customs in communication have been modified greatly owing to the advanced technology.

In the second place, the wide use of the Internet give everybody a good chance to experience  a entirely new way of life. Nowadays, if you want to get some information, you do not have to go to the library, Google-the searching engine on the Internet can help you to find anything you want to know very quickly. Moreover, writing blogs gradually start a new popularity among people. For this reason, people can express feelings on their own blog instead of writing diary as a secret any more. Besides, the Internet can also alter some traditional education mode. For instance, network classroom in which students can learn knowledge can also reach a perfect effect. From the facts above, we can see a dramatic change happened in our social life.

However, technologies also generate many controversial problems concerning ethics. For example, many criminals spread so many unhealthy things through the Internet that they can gain more and more benefits from it, while young students can be easily affected by them which is very bad in the process of the student's growth. In addition, more and more programs on TV that are violent and sexual may lead youths to be premature even commit crimes. Apart from this, since the invention of the various chatting tools, people can know so many strangers on the internet that the rate of cheat and divorcement is increasing rapidly. In this case, the society is responsible for taking measures to censor the media to prevent the dark side brought by technologies. At the same time, people should obey the society moral standards themselves.

To sum up, technologies have actually impact our social customs and ethics, but can not determine them. So we should make the best of new technologies so that we can enjoy more benefits from it, but this is based on the condition that we should not sacrifice our moral standards. Consequently, we should properly use the technology and it will our society more advanced.
