It is true that due to television and worldwide computer connections, people become familiar many places that they never visited. However, considering tourism is not only the course of familiar certain place, but mental and physical enjoyment course, I hold the point that tourism will never be taken place. On the contrary, the tourism will be prosperous thanks to television and worldwide computer connections.

Admittedly, the advent of TV and computer does make tourism seem outdated. Daily life becomes more convenient with the coming of new technology. So do TV and computer connections. Aside from providing giant amount of information, TV and computer make us familiar so many places. Without leaving one pace from the room or office, we could view the worldwide. There seems no place on earth that people can step their feet on but has not yet covered by the media. Nearly all traveling sites can find their names in internet or TV networks without much effort. Therefore, sitting in front of TV or computer, people could go to rain forest of Africa, view Egyptian Pyramids, play in Disneyland of USA, or climb the Great Wall of China. More important, for those who have not ample time, those who have not sufficient money to go around the world, those who are not health enough, they could attend to virtual tourism just clicking the mouse or opening the TV and choosing the tourism channels. It is the TV and computer that open a window from which people could view the entire world.

However, is tourism really obsolete? If so, there will have less and less people to travel. However, after the creation of television and computer connections, the traveling people did not decrease but increase greatly. Why? For one thing, the virtual enjoyments consisted of descriptions and pictures what TV and computer could represent do not equate genuine tourism itself. Watching television or browsing internet just brings us visual enjoyment. But tourism is not only visual, it is composite enjoyment. To travel is to touch the ancient or mystery staffs, to smell nature redolent, and to taste excellent food of that place. It is not only a course of exercising the body but also a course of relax the spirit. For another, more people are willing to select tourism after they know about the travel sites through television and computer connections. They are shocked by the fantastic pictures and beautiful legend of mystery places, they cannot help visiting and watching these sites through their own eyes with their own feet. Moreover, tourism is not only to satisfy the visual enjoyment but to meet needs of both physical and mental. What matters most is mental pleasure due to modern people’s stress from work and life. To visit a resort may mean to reassure their spirit, refresh their energy, and get recovery from burdened daily work.

Furthermore, traveling will never be dampened the enthusiastic or seems to be redundant with the advent of television and computer. Adversely, it will be prosperous with the aid of such media.  From the aspect of travelers, people could order their travel plans according to the information TV and computer provide. They could order the tickets of the sites, book the hotel, design the travel route ahead of time. For the travel sites, providing the beautiful and specific local character to TV or computer, they could appeal more people and bring more revenue to explore new travel sites and improve extant sites. Tourism industry is becoming increasing prosperous in the propaganda of TV and web pages.

In sum, although television and internet could provide information about places people are interested and never visited, the tourism will not be replaced at present and it will  have booming development in future.
