The high ethical and moral standards, including the honesty, fidelity, and great responsibility for his/her position are essential for an effective leader-- a chief-scientist, a president in the government, or a CEO. Such standards do not only represent their single characters of their own, but also their responsibility for their scientific group, the whole government, and their company.

In the scientific area, honesty is the most paramount factor one scientist, especially the chief-scientist, should maintain. Any scientific research is based on rules made with thousands of discoveries, evidences, invention. Any kind of dishonesty would blow up a huge scandal, not only to the single research group, but through the whole scientific field. Dr. Whang, for example, was the most famous chief biologist in South Korea for the firstly clone of stem cell line. Recently, one scandal on his cheating in the published research article was exposed. As a consequence, a suspicion atmosphere on similar biological research was filled around his research group, the biological research field in South Korea, and even around the world. Therefore, the most important character for a leader in scientific research is not his intellects and ideas, but his highest ethical and moral standards.

Not merely in the scientific area, it is also of importance for a leader in government to maintain the highest ethical and moral standards. In American history, there were so many great leaders famous for their responsibility and unique contribution for the society. (Abraham Lincoln, the leader and great president of the United States of Civil War, was the one among them. It is his great responsibility for the future of the United States that encouraged the Northern citizens, overcame dozens of economic disadvantages and won the final victory. It is hard to image that without Mr. Lincoln and the similar governors with so high ethical and moral characters, what the situation of contemporary United States would be.

Additionally, in business, such high ethical and moral standards also play a key role for an effective leader managing daily events and carrying out important treasures. The honesty, fidelity and great responsibility for their obligation help establish their figures, carry out effective treasures fluently.

In sum, the ethical and moral characters are crucial for effective leaders, from the scientific area, the government, to the field of business.
