In the memo from the president of a cheese chain of stores, the author recommends that discontinuing stocking imported cheese and concentrating on domestic cheeses would be the best way to improve profits. To support this ,the author cites several recent facts and a survey by world magazine.However,careful scrutiny reveals those evidence lead little support to the recommendation.

First of all,the last year's selling condition of newest stores in Wisconsin complete little to bolster the assertion,since the sales situation of five newest stores might not be representative enough to reveal the satisfaction of overall cheese purchasers.Besides,the author assume that last year's market condition will keep unchanged in the future, which is totally unwaranted, and it is possible that population's preference over cheese will change greatly in the next year , thereby those stores relying on profits by selling domestic cheese will get decreased benefits.

Secondly, the survey is problematic in itself in many ways to be meaningful and persuasive to support the author's conclusion.It is possible that people who response to the survey are generally prefered domestic cheese, or perhaps customers like domestic cheese eventually choose not to purchase products of this kind for their higher price, thereby not necessarily resulting in increased profit for domestic cheese stores.Without ruling out those possibility,it is unpersuasive to assume that by stocking domestic cheese stores can increase their profits.

Finally,the author fails to consider other possible way to improve profits ,which might be more effective than discontinuing stocking imported cheese.because subscribers and survey  from W can not represent the view of national purchasers, besides there are also other better means rather than limiting inventory in improving profits in all stores.perhaps profits can be improved greater by applying effective human resource and material management . or perhaps with the improved national economy the stores can also be benefited by pandering to new economic situation. Without ruling out those possibilities ,it is unfair to conclude cutting stock of domestic products is the best way to earn profit.

To sum up, the argument is problematic in many grouds.To solidify the recommendation of cuting imported cheese and concentrating on domestic ones , the arguer need to provide more concreting evidence to substantiate customers who prefer domestic cheese would by products and there are no other feasible way to improve profits.
