The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.
"Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months."

In this argument, the arguer asserts that sales of Whirlwind video game would increase in next few moths. To support his/her conclusion, the arguer give a study with result that the most important characteristics players prefer is lifelike graphics, and a fact that whirlwind has introduced several such games with a extensive advertisement. However, some fallacies are obviously existed in this argument.

In the first place, the arguer has just provided a vague survey. In this survey, we are not informed about the details information of it. How was this survey conducted? What is the sample size? How many subjects corresponded? If this investigation was carried out only in a given region with small sample size and respondents, say 100 subjects with 60 respondents. Then the result of this study is obviously can not be a representative of the general situation.

Another fallacy this argument suffered is that the campaign of whirlwind company may not be as much effective as the arguer's allegation. Even it is granted that the video games of whirlwind was characterized by desirable vivid image, its advertisement may still be ineffective. Since it was directed at only a group of people with age between 10 and 25, this age bracket may not be in accordance with that of the survey. If the survey was responded by people with age between 8 and 45, the effectiveness of the company's advertisement would be dramatically undermined.

More over, even both the result of the survey and the effectiveness of the company's advertisement and products were granted, the sales of whirlwind video games is possible still not increased. The arguer fails to take other characteristics required by players, and other competitor in video game market into account.  If there is a product from a competitor in the market with not only vivid graphics and low price, but also a good compatibility with mainstream but not updated computer, players was most likely to buy the competitor’s product but not that of whirlwind. In this case, the sales of whirlwind video games may not increase in a large scale, or even decrease a little.

To sum up, this argument is not convincing as the arguer claims, for the study and the products and its advertisement do not lend strong support to the conclusion. For a more credible argument, the arguer has to provide more interpretations to all the factors mentioned above.

If the survey was responded by people with age between 8 and 45(这个范围不是包括了10-25吗?最好说低于10或高于25,或者别的哈), the effectiveness of the company's advertisement would be dramatically undermined.

More over, even both the result of the survey and the effectiveness of the company's advertisement and products were granted, the sales of whirlwind video games is possible still not increased. The arguer fails to take other characteristics required by players, and other competitor in video game market into account.  If there is a product from a competitor in the market with not only vivid graphics and low price, but also a good compatibility with mainstream but not updated computer, players was most likely to buy the competitor’s product but not that of whirlwind. In this case, the sales of whirlwind video games may not increase in a large scale, or even decrease a little. (开头一句,如果广告见成效了,那不是说销售量上去了?这两个granted我觉得没有必要啊)

To sum up, this argument is not convincing as the arguer claims, for the study and the products and its advertisement do not lend strong support to the conclusion. For a more credible argument, the arguer has to provide more interpretations to all the factors mentioned above.
整篇文章思路很清楚,是我要学习的,论证也比较充分,就是个别小细节要注意一下,呵呵
这次的这篇文章,我是觉得我写的有点乱,呵呵,看了你的文章和别人的,我又总结了一下提纲,文章是没有时间动大手术了,就写一下提纲吧,呵呵

2.The effectiveness of the extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old is open to doubt.
3.There are other possible alternatives may affect the sales of the W video games. Need up-to-date computer, competition, economic situation.

For another thing, without the specific evidence indicating that the declined sale of Whirlwind video game is due to the false choice of product, we couldn't be convinced that the new introduced games will reverse the declining sales. If the decline is attributed to the false of management, without carrying out effective measures, the sales could not increase at all.

To sum up, this argument is not convincing as the arguer claims, for the study and the products and its advertisement do not lend strong support to the conclusion. For a more credible argument, the arguer has to provide more interpretations to all the factors mentioned above.
