TOPIC: ARGUMENT131 - The following appeared in an environmental newsletter published in Tria Island.

In this argument , the author asserts that Tria Island should abandon their now regulation about marine sanctuary and follow the regulations of Omni. To support the recommendation, the arguer also cites several statistical evidence as well as reports from O. However, careful examination over the argument reveals that the evidences in newslettler are questionable and lead little to support the conclusion.
First of all, the auguer's assertion of abandoning now regulations in TI bases on the assumption that it is the overfishing rather than pollution that cause the decline of local fish population. Lacking of evidence , it is entirely possible that it is pollution from the distance far than 20miles that cause the serious decline of local fish population for TI, since the regulation only disapproves dumping or dripping oil within 20 miles. or perhaps, there are also some other reasons , such as climatic changes which interfere the living conditions for local fishes thereby causing their death.
Secondly ,the arguer falsely concerns that there are no difference between TI and O. It is entirely possible that the original water quality in O is better than TI, or perhaps , water temperature and local marine climate in O is more suitable for fish to live while the water condition in TI is only suitable to support mammals in O.therefore, without ruling out those possibility ,it is unfair to assume that TI's fish population will stop decreasing by using the similar laws of O.
Finally, without ruling out other possible effective means to eliminte the problem of fishes' decrease ,it is unpersuasive to conclude that replacing local laws with O's laws is the best way.The author overlooks the other ways to solve the problem. other means ,by cultivating baby fishes in well environment then release them to river when they grow up, by provides more food for natural pools, or passing laws to eliminate human pollution even outside the 20miles, especially during seasons when fishes are proliferating, the number of TI's fish can also be increased effectively, which might be more economical and practical than changing the regulations.
To sum up, the reports and evidence in this argument are unconvicing and problematic in themselves. To support the assertion ,the arthor should provide more evidence to substantiate that pollution is cause of TI's fish decline and that O's fish population increase is the result of local marine sanctuary.TOPIC: ISSUE135 - "While most of the environmental problems we face result from the use of technology, society must depend upon technology to find solutions to these problems."
