TOPIC: ISSUE212 - "If a goal is worthy, then any means taken to attain it is justifiable."

While it is true that we need to try our best to achieve the goal that is worthy, which does not in any way mean that any way taken is justifiable. Before deciding what we should do to pursue the goal, we should take a careful balance between what we will gain and what will be cost.
In such a highly competitive society, modern people need to pay a lot of efforts to achieve what they want. It is highly praised that we seek the success through our intelligence and hard work. The old saying that "No pay, no gain" is a proper sentence to present such idea. As a result, we can easily find many people are working very hard in order to attain their goals.
However, what we consider is the worthiest for ourselves may not be the best sometimes for the short-eye we human beings often characterized. There are some good examples in the fields of sports. With the more and more vigorous competition in the sports yards, athletes have trained much more hard than before. Some of them got the first place through their rough training and excellent performance in the match, but there are still some people who focus on other things in order to gain the reputation. The most common way is to use drugs that can make athletes existed in a short period or make the muscle stronger not mainly by training, but by some biological changing. Some of the athletes who used drugs may won the games and did not be checked out by supervisors accidentally, but the harm from the drugs might probably affect their later life, even some female athletes may lost the ability to pregnant. Let alone the discovery by the intensified checked so that these athletes might lose the qualification to take part in the international matches in the whole life. From these cases, we can simply find that not any means that we can take if we think the goal is worthy contemporary from our own point of view.
Now we move to talk about the hot topic: cloning. The original goal for cloning was to copy the human beings' or the animal's cell to make the alternative organs and lives available to make people's life longer and prevent the extinction of some animals. Nobody will deny the goal saying that is unworthy. But after further research, more and more problems floated on the water. If we produce an identical person of the original person, what we should define the clone? Is it still a human being? If it is, should we get the organs that the original person needs from a lively body? If it is not, how we can redefine the conception of human beings since the clone has the same outlook, the same brain, the same ideology to us? Much more social and personal problems are defying enumeration here. Thus, whether to invest more on research in cloning has been a most controversial topic at present.
Even in countries level, what is the best for a country may not be the one for others. During the World War Two, the goal of Nazi was to annihilate the Jews and control the world, which was a great plan for Nazi but a tragedy for the whole world. Can we say what Nazi did at that time is justifiable? Today, everyone in the world would show their opinions that the Nazi not only did absolutely wrong for its country, but also prevent the development of the whole world. |
