All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems.

With the development of modern society, there are more and more social problems appearing day by day in the world. How to solve these international problems properly is so crucial that it may relate to the stabilization and development of the whole human society. From this point, I can not agree with the author that we should develop a global university to solve these social problems.

Admittedly, there really exist many global social problems expected to be solved soon, which is badly threatening human beings' subsistence and lives, and even more, the amount of these problems augment faster day by day. The population problem is a typical one, which requires us make a good effort to tackle it. If this problem is not dealt with properly, it will arouse a large number of successive problems, such as poverty, starvation, unduly exploitation of natural resources, society turbulence and so forth. Yet, crime of narcotics is another intractable international social problem, which is intimating the whole human beings. Moreover, the destruct degree of these global social problems is becoming more and more deeply, while the destruct scope of them is becoming larger and larger.

However, it is not fair to let a global university assume such task to solve these social problems, for the really destination of education in university is not to solve these problems but has more far-reaching significance. Firstly, education in university should facilitate an understanding of oneself, and tolerance and respect for the viewpoints of others. Secondly, education in university should also help a student gain his insight and perspective towards the human world. Thirdly, education in university should let students find a way to live, or at least give a direction on which the students should go in the future life.

Finally, to rationally solve these universal problems, several measures are recommended as following. In the first place, to promote human beings' educational quality all over the world, especially in the un-developing country, is so urgent. In the second place, through enhancing international cooperation among countries, we should beat multinational crime, such as contraband of narcotics, ammunition and so on.

In sum, I do not agree with the author to develop a global university to solve the persistent social problems. To really solve this problem, people all over the world should enhance communication with each other to find ways which are fit for most of the regions and countries to solve these social problems.
