TOPIC: ISSUE36 - "The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries."
1.       people’s greatness is decided by those after them.
2.       meanwhile people’s greatness is decided by contemporaries.
3.       in our times, people’s greatness is decided by both.

It cannot be denied that the greatness of individuals can be decided by those people who live after them, but it becomes absurd when we think that only the posterity can decide their ancestors' greatness but never those contemporaries. Actually, not only is the greatness of individuals judged by those who live after them, meanwhile, but by their contemporaries as well.

It is granted that looking back on individuals in the history, people who live after an individual can judge their greatness more objectively. Take Van Gogh for instance, people who lived in his time always cannot understand or appreciate his talents, because Van Gogh and his gift are so unprecedented that are declined by his contemporaries. As people who live after him, we have more information about Van Gogh's expression skill of visual arts, and have a more comprehensive and clearer horizon to judge his greatness in a history axis. Same example as Corpernicus, but for his contemporaries' ignorance, more greatness would be created by him, in posterity's eye, his death is pitiful and undeserved.

However, in the same time, the contemporaries of individuals can decide their greatness in a certain environment and times. From arts to science and from society to technology, people live in the same time are more familiar and more sensitive with other's greatness. Maxwell's greatness is founded in his times; Mozart's talent was notably appreciated by his contemporaries. All the Nobel prizes are offered by one’s contemporaries. Moreover, tested by time, no awarding is mistaken or undeserved in following years.

As a matter of fact, anyone in the world can decide the greatness of individuals whenever they lived in that the full and perfect judgment is given by both one's contemporaries and their posterity. As we know, with the development of history, human being experience from ignorance to civilization. Thus, their judgments become more fair and objective no matter to the greatness of their ancestors or their contemporaries. In other words, the judgment of the greatness of an individual is becoming rarely different from people live now to those who live in the future. The exactitude of the result of the Nobile prize in the past will un-doubly prove this assertion.

To sum up, we can judge the greatness of an individual in the past, because we enjoy more experience and knowledge to a degree of history. Meanwhile, we can also decide whether an individual is marvelous in our time in that we are live in the same time and we are familiar with each others. As a consequence, the greatness of individuals is decided by both people who live after them and their contemporaries.

It cannot be denied that the greatness of individuals can be decided by those people who live after them, but it becomes absurd when we think that only the posterity can decide their ancestors' greatness but never those contemporaries. more greatness would be created 这样不太合适吧,可以说,he could make greater contribution to...

诺贝尔奖的例子不错。

is decided  建议改成can be decided by, is 的话, 是不是有点矛盾,前任否定后人肯定,那算那个?

评: 总体还是不错的,虽然一段时间没有写,但是,还是保持较高的质量。尤其,第三段,提出  the future generations and contemporaries 共同来决定,还是挺好。几处小的细节多多注意!
加油了!!!!
