177."The study of an academic discipline alters the way we perceive the world. After studying the discipline, we see the same world as before, but with different eyes."

Do the way we perceive the world change after we study an academic discipline, as the speaker asserts? As far as I concerned, I fundamentally agree that the way we cognize the world alters a lot for the disciplines provides standards for us and improve our way of thinking.

First of all, studying academic disciplines help us master the basic knowledge to cognize the world, then change our way of thinking. Before we know the principles, the only way we perceive the world is through observation, which concludes sight, feeling and sound. We can not explain many phenomena only by our observation. Taking a simple phenomenon in our life for example, as we all know, different animals' appearances have different colors. When we are young, we only can remember their colors by observing them. This is how we perceive the world before we know the principles. When we grow bigger, the biology teacher told us that the colors of animals' appearance have relations with the environment they lived. Such as frogs lives near ponds, there are so many water plants there, so the appearance of them always green. We also know that the colors also play an important part in protecting animal themselves. Then we mention about the color of an animal's appearance, maybe the first thing we do may think that the conditions they live may have something of that color which is suitable for the animal to live and hide itself to avoiding attack of its enemies, not just simple recall where I have seen this kind of animals. So the way we think about the phenomena changes with our receiving more and more knowledge.

While education changes our way to explain the phenomena in the world, it also let us see our culture by using different eyes. Each culture's system of classification is so different that the way of perceive and organize phenomena, such as materials, events, behaviors and emotions, are all distinct. I've read a article which is about the Cognitive Anthropology, the author provide an example that" the Americans distinguish between dew, fog, ice and snow, but the Koyas of India call all of these forms mancu for that they think there is no significant difference between them. On the other hand, the Koyas give seven different kinds of names to distinguish bamboos while the Americans call all of them simply bambo."  This illustration shows that people in different cultures may perceive the same phenomenon differently and we realize that for some phenomena, maybe our explanation is not exact and complete, we should absorb all the advanced civilization not to only insist to our own culture.

Further, another useful function these disciplines bringing to us is that they provide a method for us to find our flaws. Wrong cognition can be corrected through exact analyse due to right thinking ways. People always summarize some rules based on experiences in the daily life. Even if some rules are not scientific, but people accept them for such a long time that it is difficult for them to change their views of that. Only by using these scientific principles to testify the wrong of these rules can persuade people to give up these rules convincingly. That's why by using these tools of scientific principles, can we amend our views about the phenomena.

In sum, studying all these academic disciplines changes our way of thinking so that our views about cultures also changes. Moreover, by using these disciplines, we discover some flaws in our daily life, so our life also changes.

Do [Does] the way we perceive the world change after we study an academic discipline, as the speaker asserts? As far as I concerned, I fundamentally agree that the way we cognize the world [is] alters [altered] a lot for the disciplines provides standards for us and improve our way of thinking.

Such as frogs lives near ponds, [where] there are so many water plants there[删], so the appearance of them [is] always green. We also know that the colors also play an important part in protecting animal themselves. Then we mention about the color of an animal's appearance, maybe the first thing we do may think [we do think may be/we do probably think is] that the conditions they live may have something of that color which is suitable for the animal to live and hide itself to avoiding [avoid] attack of its enemies, not just simple [simply] recall where I [we] have seen this kind of animals. So the way we think about the phenomena changes with our receiving more and more knowledge.

While education changes our way to explain the phenomena in the world, it also let us see our culture by using different eyes [这句有点怪eyes应理解为观点, 改为with different eyes较好]. Each culture's system of classification is so different that the way of perceive and organize phenomena, such as materials, events, behaviors and emotions, are all distinct. I've read a article which is about the Cognitive Anthropology, the author provide [provided] an example that" the Americans distinguish between dew, fog, ice and snow, but the Koyas [啥意思] of India call all of these forms mancu [这个啥意思] for that [in that] they think there is no significant difference between them. On the other hand, the Koyas give seven different kinds of names to distinguish bamboos while the Americans call all of them simply bamboo [bamboos]."  This illustration shows that people in different cultures may perceive the same phenomenon differently and we realize that for some phenomena, maybe our explanation is not exact and complete, we should absorb all the advanced civilization not to [instead of] only insist [insisting] to [on] our own culture.

Further, another useful function these disciplines bringing to us is that they provide a method for us to find our flaws. Wrong cognition can be corrected through exact analyse due to right thinking ways. People always summarize some rules based on experiences in the daily life. Even if some rules are not scientific, but people accept them for such a long time that it is difficult for them to change their views of [concerning] that. Only by [去by, 否则无主语] using these scientific principles to testify the wrong of these rules can persuade people to give up these rules convincingly. That's why by using these tools of scientific principles, can we amend our views about the phenomena.

In sum, studying all these academic disciplines changes our way of thinking so that our views about cultures also changes. Moreover, by using these disciplines, we discover some flaws in our daily life, so our life also changes.
