修改过的作文,有没有好一点?好在哪里?
每当好处很显而易见的时候,就不知道到底好在哪里了...,还要想半天...
In contemporary society, almost all colleges and universities share a goal of improving the quality of instruction. Under this sphere, a controversy arises on the issue whether all faculty spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach will help to approach this goal. As far as I concerned, with respect to certain majors, this way is unavailable and unnecessary. As to other majors, the experience brought from working outside the academic world can contribute directly to the quality of instruction.
Since our society undergoes immense exchanges in several aspects, including the ways of thinking and the requirements of job markets, faculties are beginning to realize the importance of keeping abreast of the current real world. It is well acknowledged that teachers, who are out-of-date, would be unpopular among students, let alone imparting students useful and correct knowledge. On the contrary, faculties combined their academic background and work experiences can bring classes the latest information and the factual situation of job markets relevant to the courses they teach, which will exert an essential influence on students for determining their careers. Besides, being involved in projects outside the academic world, a faculty would come to classes with a contagious enthusiasm on the courses, and thereby sparking students’ interests on this subject.
Moreover, faculties would also benefit from working outside. It is a common sense that knowledge in books is likely to turn out to be partial or even false. Working outside, which requires putting what learned into practice, can help faculties to master more accurate and applicable knowledge to lift their academic levels, and in turn, instilling these experiences and skills to students. Additionally, in the process of working outside, faculties can find a promising research task to their students. After assiduous work of faculties and students, the result of this task could benefit our society to a great extent, and repay those faculties and students high reputation. An empirical instance can illustrate this point. Professors in Stanford University majored in Computer Science always have intense association with companies in the Silicon Valley to gain inspiration on their particular subjects.
However, it is irrational to extend the assertion that working outside is useful to embrace that all faculty should work outside. On the one hand, teachers in some respects would benefit more from doing research in a relative quite and pure environment than working outside. A case of teachers who teach classical literature can illustrate this point. It is wiser for teachers of classical literature to spend more time on reading masterpieces and eschew the complex real world. On the other hand, there are not enough job opportunities for faculty majoring in certain courses. For example, professors of philosophy or anthropology can hardly find the related job. After all, their researches are too obscure to apply in reality.
In general, some faculty would benefit from working outside to improve their instruction level; however, in most respects, it is not feasible and efficient for all faculties to work outside. |
