For thousands of years, our ancestors not only leave us the heritage of infrastructure to sustain with the ephemeral nature, the ability to reconstruct the corporal world, but, more importantly, nurture our soul with those perpetuated art gifts, which engenders our lives enthusiastic and vivid. While arts satisfies people to get to further stage of enjoying life, there inevitably comes the critic, who evaluates art works with contemporary thoughts, social values and ideological criteria. Artist and critic are just like twins who show up from the every beginning of the life, but no one could predict which of them will leave earlier. Only time tells.

Artists, special part of people who are endowed to express human thoughts, beliefs, values and those who embodied those abstracted concepts into variable forms. We communicate with European people living in Renaissance by those marvelous statues standing in museums, murals in churches and collections of paintings. From curves of the masterpieces, we get to know their value of beauty, their secrete love for God, the one they thought to give human life and their enmity to devils who engrave sins into human spirits. Or can we easily feel the instinctive joy expressed by dances holding cornucopia in African tribal rites for celebrating nature's generosity. No ideological subjects other than the work created by the artists could be a better medium to serve as the platform for the exhibition of human minds, clearly, vividly and eternally. Neither does such glory come from the critics, nor tarnished by negative assessment.

Admittedly, artist creates the work to transmit social values and ideological accomplishment from generation to generation, without the help of critic, masterpieces would be overwhelmed by thousands of trifle works packed within human history. As long as the artists unveil their work, or even such work is just in the primitive stage, critic comes into public sight without any hesitation. We are easily approached to the most updated art shows held in New York just by reading the columns in the NewYorker, every spring before the great ceremony in Koda Theatre we've already have numerous comments on the prospective Oscar winner, and from the literature critique on the website of Ammazon phillumenists could make their first impression to decide which book could be enrolled into their studies. Not only do these happen nowadays, any piece of artwork has been evaluated by different critics, surely, with disparate thoughts and values. Novels written by H. Lorance have long been considered as the erotic pieces among European literature critics, but no one could deny his delicate characterization for the thoughts of the characters. Julius Caesar, one of the most elliptic novels in the history, remains at the top ten best-sales list in North America, Europe and even in Asia in the most recent 50 years. Although critic keeps a painstaking eye on any artists' work, it has the imprint of time and ideology, which might impede social development. While Da Vinci accomplished tremendous research on human anatomy, his objective records of human stuctures could just be hidden from the public sight since this was maliciously against the belief of the church. It nearly took two hundreds of years for human being to re-discover the secret of the body which cost thousands of lives and years of lag behind for the science development.

In sum, the value of human society could be transmitted with the forms of art, the possibility created by genius artists, while critic provides human a shortcut to evaluate the contemporary significance of the superstructure and goads the art development. Nevertheless, to be eternal or not, the value is appraised by its nature, no matter what kinds of critics it receives at present or in the future.

不得不赞叹一下楼主的词汇运用和对美国社会的熟悉程度（例子），不过这篇文章观点不是很清晰，首尾两端都说only time tells, appraised by its nature，中间感觉都是在讲critic不好。。。有点乱（也许我没能领会）。个别地方有堆砌辞藻之嫌，不过楼主狠的一点是能堆得起来，我想堆都堆不起来～
