Issue17"There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."

1．         赞成法律应该被遵守，无论我们个人是否认为它合法。因为法律的公正性很难简单的判别，而且每个人的判别角度不同，而法律是经过谨慎地考虑才被立法者制定的，它保护大部分人的利益。只有人人都遵守，社会才会稳定和谐。

2．         如果简单的从个人利益角度去反对，容易导致社会的混乱。

3．         但法律并不是完美的，需要我们建议立法者不断完善，同时立法者也该多倾听社会的建议，采纳合理的。

I agree with that it is every individual’s responsibility to obey immediate laws in a society. However, when it comes to whether should we disobey and resist the so-called “unjust” laws---which is a compulsory and controversial question---my answer is “no”. My points of contention with the speaker involve the standard of judgment and the nature of law.

  I concede that the speaker is on the correct social side of the assertion that every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey laws. But in my points of view, people should observe immediate laws whatever they are divided into just or unjust.   

  First of all, it is very hard to simply justify whether a law is just or unjust. Every individual come from different background may has different perspective for the same law. Consider, for example, the controversial issue of euthanasia. Some humanists who point out its unjust oppose for it deprives the rights of live as human, while others agree with it for ease the patients’ illness. We might face more serious problem such as physical confrontation with doctors and nurses, the property damage, violence, and even wars when people disobey and resist the laws that are indentified by them as unjust.  

  

  In additional, all of us know that the responsibility of law is to protect the whole society. The legislators who respond to public suggestions or other pressures try their best to make laws satisfy most people’s interests. Laws usually reflect most people’s desire to keeping stability and the development of society.

And most of people prefer to resort to the laws to justify their relationships with others or protect their interests preventing from injured. Citizens should conform to laws and respect to the process of making laws to, otherwise they will lose the protection of laws.  

  Thirdly, if every individual disobeys and resists the so-called “unjust” laws identified by herself or himself, laws can’t protect anyone. There will are thousands of different visions of “unjust” and “just” laws. So the society will be chaos.

In sum, only if every individual conforms to the laws and suggests their opinions to the legislator, and the legislators receive their good suggestions to improve laws, the society will be more stable and harmonic. Yet we would face serious problems when we resist the so-called “unjust” laws.
