Issue97 【METTLE小组】第二次作业 by werecat

97"It is unfortunate but true that political decisions and activities affect all aspects of people's lives."

Beholding the development of human society, we may witness small tribes merged into kingdoms, tens or even hundreds of kingdoms fighted or allied with each other and finally coalesced into several major empires. With the time fleets by, some empires thrived, some dwindled or even disappeared, but all of them(or remains of them) morphed into modern-concept nation countries regardlessly. Every country is consistituted of some certain nations, and only through political means can they manage their own country. Therefore, no matter how willingly or relectantly admitted, as long as you live in a country and interact with society, you are affected by the political influences of that country. In brief, we may characterize the influences into two categories, the matierial ones and the spiritual ones.

It is outright obvious and tenable that political decisions and activities affect everyone's matierial lives. Some people may doubt that in countries with free markets, the economies function on its own and obey only the commercial rules, so there is no room left for the interference from governments. However, the truth is quiet deceptive, for political powers domain the market indirectly with macro-control activities. Tax rates, interest rates, new economical policies, new public debts and new construction missions, all of them can toil the market easily, either stir or stifle it.  In a word, the conditions of market decide what you can buy, where you can buy it and how much you may pay for it, and the conditions of market is ultimately affected by political decisions. It is even more aboveboard in some authoritarian countries to control and manuver the market. In those places, factories' outputs are strictly planned and limit, hence, the prices of commodities are officially annouced. So there is no freedom in choosing what or how much to purchasse. I have to concede that the political decisions and activities have influenced all the corporeal things in the world.

However, we can not afford to ignore the fact that political effects also have a great impact on people's spiritual aspects. Under such effects, we may not starve or suffer physically, but our minds could be altered or even psychically imprisoned. Some governmental actions can affect our points of view. Patriotic propagations and campaigns are sure to raise certain trends that bring political benefits. What is ineffaceable is that during the periods of Cold War, an iron curtain was placed upon the whole world and divided it into two factions artificially. People on either side of the curtain received distorted and debasing information about the people on the other side--Yankees are all libertine playboys who want to enslave workers by capitalism while Ivans are all stubborn partisans hoping to set up red flags everywhere.It is only until after 1990s when the Cold War ended could all countries communicate more freely and the globalization could makes its way. Morever, the information censorship enforced by the government works by means of filtering infavorable information, it may therefore limit the accessible messages, darken people's minds and wits and even strangle the free thinking abilities. I still remember a recent film called "GOOD LUCK and GOOD NIGHT" reconstituting the times when news censorship was on its peak and few people dare speak out the very truth about their motherland. That is a vivid example of how political decisions manipulated human minds.

In sum, political decisions and activities indeed infiltrated into every aspects of people's lives. Since then, it is no use just complaining about our unfortune, we can endeavor to improve the independence of free market, to help waging democratic proceeds in authoritarian countries, to fight against discriminating thoughts and to eliminate censorships. Tomorrow will be a better day be we act from now on.

第一次写issue,所以没有限制时间,花了一个多小时,纵容一下自己。

Beholding the development of human society, we may witness small tribes merged into kingdoms, tens or even hundreds of kingdoms fighted or allied with each other and finally coalesced into several major empires. With the time fleets(fleeting) by, some empires thrived, some dwindled or even disappeared, but all of them(or remains of them) morphed into modern-concept nation countries regardlessly(这个regardlessly不懂了……). Every country is consistituted of some certain nations, [1]and only through political means can they manage their own country. [2]Therefore, no matter how willingly or relectantly admitted, as long as you live in a country and interact with society, you are affected by the political influences of that country. In brief, we may characterize the influences into two categories, the matierial ones and the spiritual ones.

// 感觉前面的那个引子,就是说国家兴亡演化的过程,对说明[1]没有特别支持,[1]对[2]也没有特别支持...有种主题突然跳出来的感觉..

Tax rates, interest rates, new economical policies, new public debts and new construction missions(这串例子很好,觉得需要这种大面积宽泛的距离), all of them can toil(又不懂了……) the market easily, either stir or stifle it.

// 这段感觉论证的很好,开始说整体情况,后面进一步说更特殊的情况。但是这段分论点由反驳一个观点而提出,总感觉有点不妥……
// 驳论觉得可以放在后面,作为完善文章逻辑性的一个手段

What is ineffaceable is that(这小段觉得有点纠结……) during the periods of Cold War, an iron curtain was placed upon the whole world and divided it into two factions artificially.

// 例子非常棒!个别词我不太懂该怎么用~ 其他的没啥好说了~:)

// 结尾感觉也很好,把论证过的论点又发展了一下,提出了更高一层次的建议。挺好

对例子的分析和使用,以及对结构的掌握都挺成熟了。第一篇的话真的是很不错。继续加油!:)
