94. "Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study because acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated."

  

It is true that students should concentrate on his major subjects, however, education is not just instructing the specific knowledge. University should offer a variety of courses outside the student's field of study and each student has the chance to learn what they have interests in and they can choose which courses they can take.

Education, which has great influence on students, is not just aimed at instructing specific knowledge to students. Truly education refers to many aspects to students, for instance moral standards, merits, the social expects and so on. All of these are more important than major subjects, which can determine the students will be which kind of person. If education ignores these parts the students cannot judge which is right and which is wrong. Through taking the course about philosophy or law or something else, students can development judgments base on the social standards. Can you get the conclusion that all the students who never touch the social course will develop right judgments when he confronts choose? Ancient Greece set the courses about dialectic, mathematics because it can guide students what is true. Why the courses about ethic are so immemorial? Why art courses and music courses have the history over thousands of years? The reason is that all these courses can teach one beauty, honest, goodness. Truly education is aimed at guide students to be a person with the character of true, honest, kind and beauty. It is more important than just receive the major subject knowledge because the merits can guide students make right decision instead of doing something good for himself but harmful to the social.

On the other hand, there are some other courses can help students better master and comprehensive their own major subject. For instance, a student major in trade, if he learns something about psychology, it will helpful when he negotiate with other people because he can infer to what others are thinking. However, in the modern society, with the rapid development of knowledge, major become narrower than before and in this situation some courses, which is useful to students’ major study, are divided into another major system. If the university only guide students learn their own major subjects, they will no chance to learn the other course what have relation to their majors. So university should offer a variety of courses outside the student's field of study and let students make their own decision on which courses they should take.

Admittedly, students cannot spend too much energy and time on the other major subjects. Each person has different situation and it is not suitable for every students to take another courses beyond his field. If someone has difficulty to learn his own fields’ courses, how can he have the energy and time to learn the other courses? If he also chooses to learn something else it is possible that each courses he will not get a good mark and he might be dabber to any subjects. As a result choosing another course will lose its meaning to the students. Thus students should depend on their own energy and situation to decide whether they should take other courses outside their fields’ study.

In sum, university should offer a variety of courses outside the student's field of study but it should give students the rights to determine whether the courses they should take.

你的这篇文章真的写的很好,尤其是语言很流畅。羡慕。实在是也没找到什么错误。原文我就不贴了。

唯一的缺陷就是结尾又没有扣到题目上去。人家说的是大学是否该要求学生上专业以外的课,你说了半天应该要求,最后得出的结论却成了让学生自己选择。

In sum, university should offer a variety of courses outside the student's field of study but it should give students the rights to determine whether the courses they should take. 可能你是结尾收的太急了吧。
