ISSUE87 - "In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important discoveries."
WORDS: 555 TIME: 00:60:00
Who would be more perspicuous((文章)明白易懂的, 清楚的; 说话清楚的) to find the way leading to the important discoveries, the beginner or the expert? The speaker prefers the earlier one to find the breakthrough in any field of inquiry. In my opinion, I concede that beginners might not be restrained from the conservative perspective which could be noxious to the new findings, however, in most cases significant discoveries are purchased under the help of broad spectrum of professional knowledge and subtle sensitivity that only those experts accomplished(第一段这个引子还是挺有写的,学习).
Admittedly, looking back to the history of science, quite a few important(和Admittedly,是不是有点矛盾?) discoveries were obtained by those new starters. When Albert Einstein developed his thought of Theory of the Relativity, he was just a nonesuch in the twenties, working as a clerk for the patent institute in Sweden. Neither did Doctor Gram have any basic knowledge about the stains while he found his new method of coloration for differentiate bacteria(Neither 不是两者吗,怎么只有一个?). For people that just start their career in the field or even being the layman, they could be less probably to be stuck into the platitudes and stereotype in thinking about questions or the phenomena, which deviate the chance of getting the key point in approaching the tremendous findings.
Nevertheless, in most cases, significant findings are made by experts, the people who hold the specific knowledge and professional sensitivities. World's first artificial anti-serum was found by Professor Pasteur while he was reported by his assistant about the unique skin rash developed in rabbit after being inoculated by heterogeneous serum. Without neat sensitivity and broad spectrum knowledge in microbiology, this moment could be wiped off in the history of medicine and thousands of children would have been died of epidemics of pox, measles or other lethal diseases. (前面的例子很不错,但是感觉连接的时候过渡句不舒服,不流畅,全段陡然分为两块)Compare to the beginners, experts in the field would not overlook any minute changes in the research work, furthermore, their experiences and professional knowledge engender them to chase for the underneath truth, which lead the way to the ultimate discoveries.
Furthermore, for current development of interdisciplinary work, it's hard to tell out the difference between beginners and experts in the study of science. The overlapping in scientific researches has made it impossible to impose an obvious line in between. One little step in a field could bring about great breakthrough in another field. (有关系吗?)For instance, one of the most effective medication in treating leukemia--Arsine was first found to influence the metabolism of cells by the toxicologists, the one could definitely defined as the beginner in pharmacology. Neither did Watson and Crick, chemists and Nobel Prize winners for finding the structure of DNA, know much about more concepts of Biochemistry but opened the new realm of it. Expert in the study of a field could probably being a new starter in other fields, however, brings the specific knowledge into new fields and propel the development of both.(观点很不同,一人的两面性,而不是两个独立的人)
In the final analysis, important discoveries are the result of delicate work. Either beginners or experts have the same opportunity to accomplish a breakthrough. Prejudice on experts to attain the important discovery might induce hierarchy among science field, but hoping too much for new comers to make astonishing success would cultivate laggard(形容词可以放这里?) in the field of study. We might concentrate more on the pragmatic work in the fields of study and the discoveries would be on their way to us.
写的挺好地,文章例子也比较多,词汇也比较丰富,只是流畅性上面感觉不是很好,加油 |
