优点分层法:
(1)有些学科要求教师从事相关的工作才能顺利地进行教学工作。
(2)教师从事学术有关的工作,增加所学知识的实际应用能力,开阔眼界,丰富自己的社会生活知识,更有利于教育学生,为学生提供实际应用技巧。
(3)但是不能过分强调学术以外的工作,大学教授的主要工作是从事学术研究,过多强调社会工作会使教授不能专心做学术研究,那么他也不能有新的发现来教给他的学生。
总结:这个观点在一定程度上是正确的,但过犹不及。学科和精力限制,不能推广到所有教师身上。
In the modern society, students increasingly concerned that it is important and necessary to receive a high quality education for obtaining more opportunities in future career life. In this circumstance, students and their parents pay more and more attention to the quality of instruction at the college and university level. How to improve it is usually is heat debated in the present time. There is a mainstream idea that all faculty should be require to engage in work outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach. However it is reasonable and beneficial for students in some respects, the authors who support this idea had overlooked many negative factors and we should treat the problem as a whole.
In the first place, in some certain study or research areas, the natures of the courses require the teachers have abundant experience of practical application. Especially some studies even base on the practical experience, such as MBA, computer science, social works and so on. Take the courses of MBA as a example, this is a study which concentrates on the practical application and experience in business world. The students who want further their education in MBA should gain at least two year vocational experience. When it comes to the teachers in this research area, it is the same that the experience in business is the basic of continuing their research, even much higher requirement are needed for the instruction. If the teachers did not know how to manage a company or do businesses with other people, what can the students learn from them?
In the second place, knowledge of the practical application, to a certain extent, help the teachers improve the quality of the instruction at college level. From the real world, the teacher can learn what knowledge is increasingly needed in the society, and what skills should the students obtain in their college education. By considering the demands from the society, the teachers can improve the structure of their knowledge according to the practical application. As a result, the students will be in advantageous positions in the future job hunting.
Last and not the least, not all studies benefit from the method that encourage teachers spend time in working outside academic world. Different subjects have different requirement for the teacher to improve the quality of their instruction. Over emphasis in unscientific work are harmful to the education even our society. For instance, the science which focuses on the theory of the nature such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and so forth, are distinguished from MBA and other studies base on practical work. The teachers from the science faculties are busy doing the academic work and many kinds of experiments. If they spend much time in doing unscientific work, the development of our scientific system will be influenced, even worse there might be little discovery in scientific research. This condition might also impact the students who had to learn the knowledge out of date.
To sum, we should consider the idea that teachers engaging the practical work from different perspectives. No measure only have advantages, we had better to weight the positive and the negative aspects before we making further conclusion. |
