Do nonmainstream areas of inquiry play a crucial role in modern society by satisfying many human needs that can not be meet by mainstream sciences, as the speaker asserts? I tend to disagree. While I concede that those areas of inquiry like fotune telling and astrology may sometimes meet human desires, after reflection I strongly protest them because they can not truly satisfy human needs and may cause many other social problems.
At first blush, the speaker’s assertion seems to have merit. From my own experiences, those nonmainstream areas of inquiry are indeed a important part of moral and mental life of many people in China. For example, many high school students like to come to some predictors who use some method not very different with astrology to get some guide about what should be put attention in coming exams. And someone asks for the final result of those exams and usually they may get what they need –a prediction of success or high score, and frequently, confidence about themselves in addition. [When it comes to the business, it is the same situation that many businessmen also believe in this用来过度到下一个例子 ]Many businessmen also believe in this. Quite a large proportion of businessmen may get some briary[石南?] and good luck before deciding certain risky investments from those nomainstream areas of inquiry with some amazing expenditure. Recently, it is reported that some government officials participate in these activities too. They usually take into account those predictions and guides from nonmainstream areas when they make decisions and policies. In most social aspects, nonmainstream inquiries have their place by eliminating or at least releasing the anxiety and wary[worry] for many people.
However, after scrutiny, I strongly [don’t]agree with the speaker because in fact those nonmainstream inquiries can not truly solve problems for people, [题目说的是算命这些在社会有重要作用,你说你赞成他?应该是不赞成吧?因为你说的是消极的方面了]instead, they often cause new problems. While I admit that mainstream sciences can not solve all the problems in our society, especially those problems with human spirits. But that does mean these problem can be solved by nonmainstream sciences. After a second thinking, those examples I mentioned above[abovementioned] can not support the speaker’s claim. As a student, I can absolutely understand the terrible feeling before some exams that may have great influence on one’s life, what companies[accompany sb. 伴随某人。Accompany sb. on piano,为某人伴奏钢琴] me and other[others] are wary[worry], anxiety and fear of bad results. From my observation, my peers who consult the nonmainstream inquiry really show a better confidence than before. But, in a long perspective, I don’t think it is helpful and beneficial. For anyone who are facing challenges, the most important factor in determining the success is ability rather than merely luck and confidence, which may often been ignored when we believe too much in nonmainstream inquiry. Some students even abandon hard working with some words from predictors. So, to students those nonmainstream inquiries are eventually harmful rather that beneficical[beneficial].
To[the,否则这句话没主语了] businessmen and government officials, believing in nonmainstream inquiry is also, or maybe even more, detrimental and harmful. The success in commercial world requires skills in analysis, visionary[视野?field of vision\ visual field], and ability to quickly react to market change, rather than blind courage and bravery. To ask for predictors’ word to make decision is not more that[than] participating in gamble. For government officials, true ability to make wise decision and make right policy can never be attained by coming to those unjustified inquiries. Otherwise, why people [do]not to vote for those masters in the nonmainstream inquiries for majors, senators, and jokingly, president. And in other aspects, the real cases are all similar that those nonmaintream inquiries can not factual[factually] help us but make us in more trouble.
To sum up, the speaker’s assertion is very specious. In my view, nonmainstream inquiry can not help people to solve problems in our society, instead, they result in more problems that troubling us.[结尾可以稍微长些,比如可以把你论述中的让步观点用一句话点出,再来总结你的反对观点是为了什么。]
[小结:论证思路还是挺清晰的,用了学生这个生活性的例子。给我很大启发哈哈!
语法和拼写错误稍微注意下。
