In the author's view, he asserts that we place too much emphasis on role models and people
should lean to think and act independently rather than following others in order to make best
choices for them. As soon as I am concerned, I agree totally with his assertion. The role models
can have a great positive effect on the populace,however, we should pay more attention to the
significance of the acting and thinking independently, the excessive adoration of the role models
may exert a terrible damage to us.

First of all, the role models can serve to instruct the trend of populace, especially for the young,
which can be utilized by us to show their positive effect. As is known to all, tennis is a international
and popular game based on certain economic levels. Many undeveloped countries come into the same trouble
of lack of young to learn tennis. The problems can be solved by means of cultivating outstanding players
who can win the champion on the world level. The tennis stars will provoke more children’s interest on
tennis and parents are willing to encourage their children to learn tennis  for the dream of becoming
another tennis stars one day. This measurement also increase the possibility that more new famous tennis
stars will show their excellent performance on the international levels. The history also informs us that
Einstein rose to fame swiftly and was so popular in the world that he served as a Hollywood superstars
rather that a physics for his famous theory of relativity. What is amazing is that even the populace around
the streets had a great interest on talking this theory of relativity with others. The adoration of Einstein
motivate more students to devote their lives to theoretical physics so that a great many of impressive
discoveries were founded later. So, the society and individual can both benefit a lot from the role models.

Secondly, the importance of acting and thinking independently must be taken in to account. The independent
thought ensue us that we can make a self-possessed decision and rational judgment when faced with some crucial
things which may determine the destiny of our lives. The independent behavior guarantee us that we can be
responsible for our actions and help us overcome lots of trouble we will meet in the route to success. However,
only following and copying others experience, can our character be more idles and can our route be misled to a
totally false direction. The violent on the media exert a bad influence on the development of our children. The
adoration of the hero who can do what they want with no regard to laws and ethic standards increase the rate of
ten-age crime rate in our society. Thus, it is troublesome and emergent for us to handle with this problem
effectively and correctly. So, we must pay more emphasis on the independent behavior and thought.

Thirdly, the excessive adoration of role models can give rise to a series of serious problems which are harmful
to our mental and physical health. Many young nowadays follow the superstars in entertainment. Some of them spend
lots of money on watching their idols’ performance and involve in collecting information about their idols, but
have no interest on learning again. What is worse, small of them even suicide after the wedding ceremony of their
stars. We also remember the tragedy that the sarin attack on the Tokyo subway carried out by the Aum Shinrikyo.
People who have a belief of some so-called evil thought lost their mind and became anti-society and anti-humanity.
Because of this, we must be composed and cautious with the role models when we want to follow and copy their experience.

To sum up, I contend that even though we can benefit some from the role models ,we should pay more attention to our
own behaviors and thoughts. Only through acting and thinking independently can we achieve our goals more easily and
correctly.
