People in one field could always get inspiration from the knowledge and experience of other field, for that the essences are coherent. In the past, a great man may be involved in several fields to find their similar points. But now, the developments in all the fields make it difficult for outsiders to step in. Nevertheless, by communicating with each other they can also absorb the crucial spirit of other's work. Thus, the significant advance might be achieved.

At ancient time, the knowledge had not been accumulated as much as nowadays. People owned the ability to learn all the human experience from their predecessor. Therefore a lot of generalists on the history showed their wise by using one field’s knowledge into another to get considerable achievements. The case of Da Vinci could exert tremendous weight on the reasoning. He utilized the anatomy to view the world in a unique aspect and printed a mass of masterpieces. In that period of time, hard to discern who is belong to which field, though, the mutual learning between each field has spurred the development of human society.

Viewing the current world, however, the specialization among fields diminishes the function and feasibility of that kind of generalist. Communication becomes the most important way to introduce the knowledge and experience from one field to another. Through the lectures, John Nash presented his theory on the non-cooperated game latterly adopt by business men to build new regulation on the market. In that case, although Nash knew little about how to make money, his works on mathematics help those business men to understand the market profoundly. As the fundamental tool of all the science, math serves for other subject with no doubt. On the contrary, however, the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, one of the hardest questions of Math, is attributed to the development of technique. Otherwise, people would not doubt with the assertion that Fermat himself had proved it. As the result, no matter it is in basic subject or application field the great advancements own some factors of the help from other fields.

In fact, when the cooperation between subjects and fields increase sharply and become closer, the advancement may not be separated to one of those fields. Hence appears the interdisciplinary such as bioinformatics. By the combination of computer science, biology, and mathematics, scientist in this field try to work out the mystery of life and at the same time simulate the method of nature to create new algorithm to help the development of computer science and mathematics. Therefore, none of the three subjects, the achievement in bioinformatics is classified to, will it be fair. Furthermore, if the advancement is on the level of method, all the fields would be benefit from it. Just like the scientific method concluded by Galileo from his own works on several fields, good methods could be used by more than one generations. Consequently, the combination of several fields might lead to important improvements.

In sum, it is the fact that great advancement could be stemmed from one field’s knowledge used into another. But to be more accurate, it may not necessarily be a outsider who bring the fresh air in, since one can master all those knowledge in the past when the knowledge is limit. And the achievement may not be clearly classified into one specific field due to the cooperation of all the fields. Thus through the mutually help and inspiration the significant advancement belongs to all the scholars that involved and benefit the whole society.
