When asked whether it is worthy of looking back at history and whether an understanding of the past is beneficial for our daily lives, people may not come to consensus due to their different backgrounds and conflicting values. As far as I am concerned, I partially agree with the conclusion of this issue and, with an extending meditation, a series of other elements may affect the living in the present.

Admittedly, an understanding of the past provides guidance for the living at present. Human society is a long-lasting evaluationevolutionary process and the basic social advancing rule are conspicuous in front us which scales from primitive society, molopolymolopolistic society to democratic society -- a process from underdeveloped to developed. Like the natural rule and natural selection which was illustrated by Darwin, the basic social rule are a aspect of natural rule and any man who want to defiance it would have a disastrous end. The former leader in Germany, Hitler attempted to abandon the pursuit of democratic and had the ambition to conquer the world to make his molopolymolopolistic dream come true. This kind of thought and behavior are not permitted by people all around the world who like peace and democracy and this orthodoxparadoxical behavior are meant to vanish. If getting an understanding of the social developing rule and recognizing that his action is somewhat evil, he would never lead the notorious the Second World War. In one word, the understanding of the past provides guidance for present living.

However, it is a common sense that the vital element for our living is, by all means, value. The value decides our living and future developing. Knowledge is the thing with magic value. One European philosophy once said:" Knowledge is power." One famous statement by Confucius, used to teach his students, is that: there are golden house within the book; there are beautiful women within the book. These sayings by ancient philosophers indicate that even people in the old society recognized that knowledge, the magic element which can directly transform into power and productivity. With the discovery of knowledge by Maxwell that magnetism and electronics can transform mutually, the electricity producergenerator was produced. These evidences tell us that knowledge is a vital point for the advancing of our lives.

On the other hand, the comprehension of modern economics can provide guidance to people's living because economics are an eminent element within daily lives. The economics in China are sweltering with the phenomenon of the high-rising stock market and soaring house prize. People are in anxioutyanxiety and horrible feeling which is inevitable. But under the environment of inflation of RMB, the raising conditions in economics are somewhat reasonable. Bearing such negative thought, we can investigate bravely to suit to this situation and improve our living condition. This illustrate that knowledge is also important to improve our living conditions.

In summary, I partially oppose the author's issue and state that other than history, the knowledge is the vital element in the guidance for living in the present, but it is likely that people will never be able to arrive at the same conclusion in this controversial issue. However, taking into account all the dimensions discussed in the above analysis might be a decisive step out of this dilemma.
