  Whether the video camera plays a more vital role in documentation than that of written records? as proposed by the title. According to my understanding, although the video camera outweights the written records concerning the accuracy and vividness of temporal and spatial events, the advantages of the latter one makes itself an imreplaceable status when recording. Considering all the aspects of their characters, it is better to combine the two forms of documentation.
Firstly, the breakneck of technology allows the spring of the video camera, which changes the dominating role of written records, due to its advantages that can not be compensated with the tools of the papers and pens. At the time absent of camera, only by the laterly published newspapers and nationwide announcements, were the mass able to be accessible to the incidents, either of which are significant celebration or stirring tournaments. However, no one can imagine that, instead of watching the live show of Rocket vs Laker, receive the result the score by the headline of a sports newspapers published the day after its performance. That is the greatness of the invention of video camera, namely, all of us can obtain the information of temporal events timely, what is more, exactly. The exactitude of the role of the video camera lies in every aspect of people's daily life. For example, in the court, the record of process at the site and the time of crime, did an objective witness role as an evidence. Even more objective than that of a witness, for the reason that people are always limited by the eyesight and the perceiving angle, which may influence the outcome observed. While the video camera can record all the details clearly and avoid processing the original materials, which demonstrate the truth. Such functions are especially important in the crime of banking robbery, traffic violation, and even the malfunction in surgery of operation.
Secondly, though the merits of video camera make it a vital role nowadays, the existence of the written records can not be replaced attribute to the advantages of itself. Considering that when the official of the National Statistics Bureau is claiming the GDP of its country at the regular conference, does the exhibition of products recorded by the video camera do a better job than the list of abstract number of its value? Apparently, the terse number expresses well, especially when comparing GDP to other countries in the form of both time-series and cross-section. Also, the integrity of events can be better preserved with the tool of written records. Admittedly, both of video camera and written form can describe the occurrence superficially, scenery also included, while only written records add the interpretation, in spite of this, it provide more details of causal relationship, deepening analysis and coming and going cues with them. That is to say, the written records can offer the audience more thoughtful viewpoint than that of video camera. Besides, as to the expense of record, the latter one cost less than the former one. And considering the convenience of information demanders, reading from the written records can rule out the requirement of instrument.
  Finally, from the analysis above, it is obvious that both of them are of importance in recording. Considering their indispensable role, it is not safe to decide which one is more important. As the saying goes, no one has his fault, which is equal with the video camera and written from. By fortune, either can be a supplement tool for each other. Perhaps recurring a blissful wedding ceremony perfectly need the help of the record of camera, which provide the vivid scene and the ardent atmosphere, and written form of the activity of mental mind and mood many years later.
  In sum, the title overstates the role of the video camera. However, it is fortunate for us to own it as a supplementary from of documentation. With the video camera, people can record convincingly, directly and temporally, while the written record give people an abstract, processing and terse form. So their supplementation serves better than any one of the documentation alone.
