138"Only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress."

The author alleges that only by committing mistakes could we make progress. I dichotomize the assertion. The first claim is that mistakes could render us progress and the second is that only through mistakes could they obtain the routine to improve. While I fundamentally agree with the first prong, according to the author’s implication, there are other things needed to be addressed.

Turn first to the threshold claim that mistakes let people make progress. It is owing to the fact that more often than not you could not expect the result precisely that the mistakes might be ineluctable. However, it is not necessary to be afraid of mistakes. Because you could learn much from the mistakes, for mistakes represent your and others’ drawbacks. If it were others’ drawbacks, you could learn to avoid them, granted that you have not such mistakes. Meanwhile, if you have the same defects, you could analyze the outcome to perfect your theory or methodology in conduction. Learning from other mistakes could give you buttress in the exploration avoiding dead end, from one’s bestow oneself with proper and thorough understanding of it that might not be forgotten.

Moreover, nowadays, a great amount of companies and enterprises are encouraging mistakes, which is due to the fact that various enterprises and each field need new technologies that might expedite the efficiency and effectiveness. Furthermore, the technologies stem from experience and creativity. When a certain enterprise is equipped with a steadfast economic root and personnel structure, the next important step is to motivate the creativity. Creativity often comes along with mistakes due to its possibilities. Owing a spirit of not fearing mistakes often yields miraculous answers and discovery.

However, although mistakes provide us with ways to learn and perfect ourselves, it does not mean only through mistakes could we progress. Mistakes are there to accumulate experiences and perfect one’s behavior rather than to be committed. As the Jason Burby, a manager in a correspondence company in America, avers that we encourage mistakes, but more importantly, you should make sure that you could learn something from it, mistakes are ineluctable, however, the attitude to making mistakes could be avoided and should be forbidden. Only if we keep a precise attitude, that is, connecting the behavior with all our knowledge, could we learn something new and avoid repenting after committing a mistake. After all, improvement after mistakes is no more than hindsight, which might not worth praising. In addition, not all mistakes could be reversible, the loss along with which could be enormous. The turnover in a game could trigger a failure and an unqualified bolt could lead to an air accident. Also, a malpractice during an operation might leave an immutable impact on a patient if it is not too bad.

In sum, mistakes are ineluctable due to the possibilities of the outcome that could be previewed. And surely it would give us a way to reexamine the whole process in which we performance and avoid the analogous errors in the future so that it would beneficial to reduce the loss. But more importantly, we should make sure that we could learn new knowledge from them, which calls for a sophisticated attitude to dealing with what we should do. There is no need to be afraid of mistakes but it is necessary to learn to avoid them.
