Can scandals be useful, as the statement maintains? The discussion of this issue among individuals and in socitty as a whole has come into vogue during the last decade.People's opinions are divergent on such a complex and controversial topic. The author declares that scandals can foucus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could, however, it oversimplifies this statement. The final judgement should, in my mind, depend on a case-by-case analysis.

Scandals would be beneficial to the society when it rouse our attention to certain important problems which should be tackled. Indeed, people usually neglect some problems and fail to reveal them because of laziness or over-self-confidence. Without the help of scandals, some critical problems would never be noticed until they deeply damage our society. Let us take the recent scandal in NBA as an illustration. NBA used to be the fairest league in the world. However, a referee called Tim Donghy ruined this reputation. He was abused of controlling some games and being involved in gambles which are definitely forbidden by NBA. Fortunately, it is said there is only one bad referee in NBA. The scandal, in turn, shocks the whole US and people have put big pressure on the officials of NBA. This, in turn, would make NBA more careful about the deeds of referees. Also, those potential criminals might give up their devil ideas to gamble and control the games. Practically, the scandal makes NBA better and fairer. Therefore, scandals can be useful.

Another example is in the field of military training systems. After the war with Iraq, US militaries have captured thunsands of hundreds of enemies. However, it seems that some of our mariners fail to treat them well. The media revealed the scandals at first and people were astonished. Everyone asks him/herself why the soldiers from the most socialized country would do such damned things. Some doctors gave the public the answers. After one or more years war in Iraq, these soldiers are too eager to go back home. However, these strong feelings together with the lonliness and high pressure would finally detort a normal mind. So, nowadays, every military schools would supply twice more classes on mental health in order to keep the soldiers from doing wrong things. Actually, without the scandals in the prisons, no one would find these inside problems and no effective methods would be applied at all.

However, sometimes scandals of stars would cause the reverse effects especially to the teenage. There are many heros in our society such as stars, politicians and scientists. Some of them are adored by the teenage and have fans and followings. If scandals come to them, he/she would not only forfeit the reputation but also put a bad example to his/her fans. Let us take Britney as an example. Admittedly, up to now Britney has a tough experience.  When the scandal came that she made her one-year-old son smoke and drink Britney's followings would surely never forgive her. It might be the case that some of her fans who are teenage (they could not differentiate the good and the bad) would resemble her and do the same thing. As a public star, one should do decent things and behave him/herself! Otherwise, the scandal would be harmful to some teenage morally.

Also, scandals sometimes would be used as a political tools by some politicians to attack others. Before the election of the mayor of Gaoxiong in 2006, Wang, the candidator from the Minjin Party told the media a sex scandal of her opponent Chang who was from Guomin Party. This, in turn, shocked the whole Taiwan and huge amounts of people turned from Chang to Wang. Indeed, Wang finally won over Chang because of this scandal. However, after an inspection of the police, media found that the scandal was faked. That is to say, Wang cheated the public. Even though Chang took back the position eventually no one would neglect the power of scandals in ruining an opponent. Thus, the public should be careful about all the scandals given by the politicians.

In sum, I partly concede with speaker's statement. On the one hand, the scandals would purify our society and warn us some crucial problems; on the other hand, if wrong used, scandals would be quite dangerous to the individuals and the public. After all, everything has double edges including the scandal.

Can scandals be useful, as the statement maintains? The discussion of this issue among individuals and in society as a whole has come into vogue during the last decade. And People's opinions are divergent on such a complex and controversial topic. The author declares that scandals can focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could, however, it oversimplifies this statement. Scandals would be beneficial to the society when it rouse our notice to certain important problems which should be tackled. Indeed, people usually neglect some problems and fail to reveal them because of laziness or over-self-confidence. Without the help of scandals, some critical problems would never be noticed until they deeply damage our society.(这句可以用倒装,语气会更好) Let us take the recent scandal in NBA as an illustration. 语言很好呢,就是在许多句子之间要加入连接次啊,还有,句式的变换频率比较低了,总算明白了什么叫做“眼高手低”,一起加油咯~~
