1、  通过观察人们的行为举止和外表有时可以知道一些他们的兴趣爱好和社会价值观。
2、  但有时人们的外表，衣着，行为不一定能完全体现一个人的内在。
3、  了解一个社会的价值观还可以通过其他方法，了解这个民族的历史、文化，加强交流，合作深入调查。现在社会发展越来越快，光通过外表来了解一个民族的价值观是远远不够的

The speaker claims that one can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people for the reason that appearance and behavior of people reveals their attitudes and interest. It is true that, in some sense, people would prefer to agree the speaker's claim. But in my opinion, I fundamental disagree with the speaker's claim for some reasons substantiated by following discussion.

Admittedly, by observing the appearance and behavior of people, it is possible for us to learn the interests and social values of people. Usually people's interest and occupation associated with his appearance. For example, we can infer from a person who was used to dressing clothing of sport style that he maybe a athlete or a amateur who was interested in the football, basketball and such other sport games. In addition, people's social values have an immense connection with their appearance, it is easily for people to recognize a Arab people from his appearance. The appearance of character that Arabic men usually dressed on white aba and women on veils provides information to people that they have a religion of Islam; and exposed the significant role the religion doctrines play in their daily life.

However, when it comes to the evaluation of internality of people and society, one need stand a much higher stage where seldom can people depend on the appearance and behavior. A famous professor in my university once said (and I paraphrase):"Appreciating a person only predicated on one's appearance is a folly behavior." Pay attention to the eminent people in the history of world. One needs look no further than Martin Luther King who devote to the Civil Right for African American play a important role in the United States history. Many people were inspired, striving for one's legal rights in the 1960's, not by his appearance but by his great character specifically different with normal people.

Finally but not least, were one want to truly tell much about a society's ideas and values, he or she would not only observe the appearance and behavior of its people but also other effect ways. In the era of generalization of globe, there is an inevitable tendency that appearance and behavior of individual, groups, and society increasingly become more and more similarly. It is necessary for us to get to know the history, the culture, the economic, and the politic of the society. Without investigation in some details, no one can learn the society's ideas. Without communication with different region of people, no one can learn the difference of society's values.

In sum, on one hand, it is people look, dress, and act that reveal attitudes and interests. However, on the other hand, if not comprehending the internality of an individual and society, then no one would truly realize the true society's ideas and values. What is more, it is important for us to utilize different ways to delve a social's ideas and values.
