When a person stands in front of a painting of Picasso, he would admire that the artist rather than some critic gives society something of lasting value. However, when he faced varieties of literature from some young writers, whose words are of little value, he would be confused by himself. Actually, artists and critics are supplement to each other on supporting the world something with permanent value. Either of them could totally take the responsibility of supporting things with lasting value.

On one hand, it is, no doubtfully, the creative minds of artists that add hue to our quotidian life. Hardly could one imagine what will happen if there is no single painter or singer or dancer in the world. People have to repeat the boring science work day after night, and no games to play in the leisure time, and lives would be submerged in the boring philosophy thinking. Besides, art, in some extend, could encourage one scientist to invent something new. We could take a famous scientist—Albert Einstein as this example, as all we know, his theory of relativity has been proved valuable for the society nowadays, but at the meanwhile, few knew that he also was a good player of violin. Einstein once said it is the art make him access to the truth. So we could consider him as an artist to the science field.  Of course, not all artists will supply the society in which they live in his work with highly proud, even they devoted themselves into this career all their living days. Because, this world is on its way to developing better, do is the art, no one could promise all the artists must be excellent.

On the other hand, a critic's evaluation of an artwork serves as a filter, which helps us determine which art is worth our time and attention, and how to be a good connoisseur. With fastidious view, critics could show the works they thought discussible to the public, such as a type of literature, or a fashion of paintings. As every critic would hold his own thought about one single problem, they would discuss that for a long time, and this discuss might attract more attentions as the scandals, thus, the final case left in this words war would be with least dissension, and with eternal value. So public could not identify which is the best and could be lasting forever without the help of critics, because varieties of artworks in modern world, and human being are easy to follow others without any thinking. As an result, the speaker could not simply denial the contribution of critics to the society.

In sum, a critic could provide feedback for artists; and constructive criticism, if taken to heart, can result in better work. So the artist and the critic are participating the role of supplying the most valuable thing to the world.
